Courtyard Kalamazoo Portage

The guest rooms are very dated. The shower door leaked, the shower head was rusted, and the bathroom lighting is very dim. The shower caulking has old mildew stains and the grout around the exterior of the shower has broken away because of water leaks. The rest of the guest room had terrible lighting as well. The bed was semi-comfortable, but the pillows are lousy. This place needs a massive update.

We were surprised there was no mini fridge or microwave. The Courtyards we’ve stayed at before have had those. There was a big tear in the upper side of the small couch and the curtains were broken where the closure was. I think they were understaffed. The gal who checked us in, was very nice, but had cleaning gloves on as we must have taken her away from a cleaning job. We’ve always liked Courtyards, but I’m not sure we’ll choose one again. They did have a great shower head.

Clean and location There’s nothing to not like . Nice people and a clean Hotel.

I hate the fact i had to get out of bed TWICE and come downstairs to get my smoke alarm to turn off and was accused of smoking..... even though multiple other guests were having the same issue at 5am!!!!

The hotel is a 30 second walk to Black Rock which is an excellent place to eat and/or drink. The steak is expensive but the self-cook gimmick is fun. The hotel is a 3 minute drive to Meijer and several other restaurants right in the area, as well as immediate access to the highway. It’s an excellent central location to either downtown Kalamazoo or Portage. The only snag during my entire trip was actually at check-in. They were having tech issue with their keycard system so they couldn’t give me a key to the room. I also couldn’t activate the remote key feature for my phone. The issue was resolved a few hours later and that’s the only problem I had the entire time. I will be staying here on my routine visits from now on

The front desk employees we’re fabulous, kind and most helpful.

Not impressed with this property. Took way too long to check in (15 min), even though there was no one in front of me. TV didn't work the first night and they had no one to fix it. Mold in the shower in multiple places. TV is in a difficult-to-watch position. Talked with a customer service member who promised to give me a discount on my bill. Of course that didn't happen. And - omg - so many useless emails from this place. There was nothing inherently bad, but so many inconveniences to guarantee I'll look elsewhere on my next trip to Kzoo
