It is an experience to behold and live in. You would feel like you are living like royalties in here. The staff is amazing and wonderful always helpful and cheerful. Very beautiful property, it was an amazing hospitable stay, Roshan, Dilshan & Dhananjay were very helpful! Nothing

Beautiful property with character. Lovely gardens and swimming pool. Very comfortable. Very attentive staff.

Location. View. Gardens. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Very good breakfast. Inadequate hot water. We were disappointed that we could not get the room we booked in the main bungalow — the room we had was an upgrade, but lacked charm. We were surprised to learn that there were no dining facilities, other than breakfast (perhaps the website needs updating). Check-in was a bit slow.

Wow, what an amazing place. The gardens are sublime, the room huge and the building very beautiful. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our breakfast at the dining table, where we met some other travellers from different countries. The hotel is up a bit of a hill so the walk to town is not a problem but if you are not up for a steepish climb you may prefer to get a tuk tuk back. The view from the bungalow is amazing and there is the opportunity to visit a nearby hotel by the same owners with spectacular views. I would wholeheartedly recommend this accom.

Great property with lovely staff !

Akila! - he greeted us very warmly upon arrival. The property is an old english house high above the lake of Kandy so very good views of the temple and lake below. Our room was very large and first impressions were good. Our first night Akila very kindly drove us by tuk tuk to a nearby restaurant and came back for us which was great as it was raining heavily. He is warm and friendly and the best thing about this hotel. This property has recently been taken over by Seven Angels group. They seriously need to work on this property. Poor value for the price we paid. Room we had was huge BUT there is nowhere to hang clothes, not enough power points for charging phones etc, wifi weak, no fan in the bathroom, issues with toilet either running all night or not flushing, No towel rails in the bathroom to hand towels to dry - although it was so wet and damp for our entire stay they probably wouldn't have dried. Toiletries on offer were in tiny ceramic bottles with missing cork stoppers on 2 out of 4 bottles. No decent coffee - machine broken - but hey get a coffee plunger and good coffee! Garden is huge but very muddy underfoot.

Unique location with wonderful view! What makes it even better are the staff always helpful and very kind. We enjoyed our stay and the only regret is having stayed only 1 night.

Not much, was a great stay

Everything! Nothing!

Beautiful property with great views We only had a short stay. Arrived late and left early

Food could have been better.

Fantastic property with excellent staff. The property offers fantastic views over Kandy and the surrounding countryside. Set in its own beautiful gardens above the busy town. We were moved rooms on arrival as there was a torrential downpour and our original room had a small leak. The room we moved to was fantastic with all we could need for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was outstanding. Nothing, would just urge the owners to get the roof repaired before the property is ruined by the ingress of water ??

Location and secluded space to enjoy Kandy from the hustle and bustle.

Castle Hill Bungalow was absolutely beautiful, the location was stunning and the staff couldn't do more for you. We only stayed one night but were made to feel so welcomed, we didn't want to leave. We arrived early expecting to have to wait for our room, but they ensured we were checked in within 15 mins and gave us some fresh juice while we waited. Akila then showed us to the hotel nextdoor where we could use the rooftop pool and facilities. He also arranged an amazing candle lit dinner in the garden for us with some absolutely delicious food! The breakfast we had in the morning was so good, they made us a sri lankan omelette with hash browns, bacon and sausages. We ate this in the garden with the stunning view over the lake. We would 100% stay there again and would recommend it to anyone going to Kandy. Also only 5 mins in a tuktuk from the train station.

The staff were really really lovely and went out of their way to help us, the building is amazing, and the garden a welcome respite from the traffic of Kandy -and the location is top. We even had the hotel all for ourselves on the second night! Only advice : do not book the ‘deluxe’ rooms: they are pretty bare bones and without any of the charm that makes this hotel. Book any other room and you will have an amazing stay in a huge room and a period setting.

The accommodation is beautifully elevated above the city and only a few steps away from a view point. The rooms are lavishly big. Unfortunately there was a strange, kind of moldy smell in both of our rooms. The humid climate surely doesn’t help. The floor and carpet in the room was dirty - but nothing that one sweep with a vacuum cleaner couldn’t fix. The staff is very attentive, helpful and friendly.

This was a charming stay, within walking distance to the city center. The view was incredible! Breakfast was very good (for an extra charge). The history of the building really made the stay unique. Air conditioning and fans made the room temperature pleasant. Being an old building, we did find some mosquitoes in the room. The bed had a net, though a few still got inside. It wasn’t enough to put a damper on the experience though.
