The price. It was very expensive for what you get compared to other 5 star hotels. You are paying 5 star hotel prices (or more) without getting a 5 star experience.

During dinner there are some groups of ppl are start to check in and the noise are very loud. Would be great if there are seperation zone from dining area and lobby area.

The details of a 5 star hotel in complete harmony with nature. As a bonus we took an autumn waterfall hike with Huy. If only we could stay longer:)

The property is calming and unique. The staff were very friendly. Location was good for a stay in karuizawa. We booked a dinner for 2, and they tried to seat us at an enormous 20-person table under bright lights, like a cafeteria. This is not acceptable for an expensive dinner at a luxury hotel. We would prefer to be told there can be no reservations, than to be seated there. Luckily, we were eventually able to change our seat. But it left a negative impression.

Absolutely stunning property, all 3 buildings offer rooms with a unique experiences however our stay at SSH 3 was particularly inspiring. I would recommend booking the bath house and spending time enjoying the library. We were fortunate enough to also enjoy the Art and Architecture tour of the whole property and the Japanese breakfast at Shola was amazing.
