Our family (myself, my wife, and our 3 kids) had a truly wonderful stay at the Kiwengwa Bungalow Boutique Resort. We stayed together in one bungalow with two small rooms and absolutely loved the entire experience. The resort is a beautiful, smaller, boutique-style hotel. While the room space inside the bungalow is on the smaller side, it was comfortable enough, and room service did a fantastic job cleaning it daily. The location is perfect—we had direct access to the beach, which was just a short 1-2 minute walk from our room. The beach bar is located right on the sand and offers great music, excellent food, and top-notch service. We completely fell in love with the relaxed vibe of the place, and both the restaurant and the pool were absolutely great. It offered excellent value for money. A special shoutout to the manager, Ivana—she is a truly great person! She was always available, incredibly kind, and helped us with absolutely every single request we had. On top of that, all the workers at the restaurant, bar, and reception were exceptionally helpful and always smiling. We had a great experience and highly recommend this boutique gem! Cosy rooms

Staff is really something I will remember.. so gentle, nice and always available when we needed help. Breakfast buffet is abundant, very good, with loads of fruit and you can ask for fresh omelette. Off-site excursions are organized by one of the best teams I could ever meet. Good guards are in place at the beach to avoid stress from local vendors. Air conditioner and fan are a very plus against the heat. Towels and sunbeds provided for free at the beach. Available a wide area for kids next to the main restaurant bar. Taxis are nearby if you want to explore other parts of Zanzibar. The structure is fair, we expected more considering the high price. Rooms are dark, very small, furniture is old and sometimes not so clean. Flush needs to be repaired for good. Restaurant is good, but a little expensive compared to other beach restaurants nearby. Stray cats meowing all along around tables while you eat is a no-go. The 'Entertainment' they state is poor (especially for young people) and weekly repetitive. I have seen better entertainment directly on the beach from locals. No entertainment organized at the beach, like water gym, windsurfing, jet ski, etc. Organization of the place is also poor: there is no dedicated office for excursions, there is no mini-market inside. Even for essentials, you have to go outside. Coffee is very bad, compared to other structures in Kiwengwa. Water - as all Kiwengwa - is salty in your bathroom.

This was great! The location was good. The beach exclusively to the property just a few steps away. It was a comfortable stay. And the staff - they were fantastic ! Very friendly helpful and took care of all our needs, including a special surprise for a birthday for one of us.

-
Wonderful place with the most beautiful, safe beach, perfect water and comfy sun beds, great beach bar/restaurant open until late. Delicious food. The kindest, most helpful hotel staff. Close to a few shops, pharmacy and ATMs. Best hotel out of 4 I’ve stayed at in Zanzibar, great value for money. -

The location and layout were excellent. The beds were too hard for our tastes.

The beach and set up was nice. The promise of yoga and games was there but not established. New mgmt takes time to establish. Lots of potential just needs time and a better chef.

We stayed at Kiwengwa Bungalow Boutique Resort with our family and two small children — and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was peaceful and family-friendly, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and we truly felt at home. We have no complaints at all. The only minor downside was that the restaurant prices were a bit high compared to other places in the area, but the quality of service and setting made up for it. Highly recommended for families looking for a quiet and relaxing stay near the beach!

Good setting good bar good restaurant - good meals and selection in the evening. Reasonably priced (with caveats) down from £850 to £250 for five day during rainy season, we cut our stay short and Booking.com were very helpful facilitating refund. The boutique part of the name is somewhat misleading. Swimming pool was a bit murky. All the taps had salt water (unexpected). Distance from beach, not far, but far enough. The outdoor gym (lol) We saw many reviews of an amazing breakfast. It wasn’t bad, but it felt like reviews were misleading. No fresh coffee available at breakfast only instant. Very limited amenities in the rooms. No TV in the room. Rooms are a bit small for the asking price

I can not rate this property highly enough. The layout was beautiful, the facilities and availability of activities was superb. The beach was gorgeous and the staff were outstanding- they genuinely could not do enough to help. A big thank you to Jana for organising our safari- it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The trips offered by the property really do provide the best opportunity to make the most out of this stunning island. Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable. Nothing.

We had everything we needed for our vacation. Everything was very convenient. Beach beds enough for all guests, nice and quiet pool in a beautiful garden, Italian restaurant on the beach with best cocktails, the disco club just in front of the hotel beach, best massages we had (I recommend) and Hana tattoos for me and my daughter. Food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. They made for you omelets and pancakes and all fruits and fresh juices. What else you need? The staff is so kind, smiling, willing to make you comfortable, you become addicted in few days to people and the place. nothing. everything was perfect

Kiwengwa Bungalow Boutique Resort is an absolute gem! Located just 100 meters from the beach, it offers the perfect mix of convenience and tranquility. The private section on and next to the beach is a dream come true – quiet, relaxing, and ideal for unwinding. The breakfast and dinner here are fantastic, with every dish bursting with flavor. I was particularly impressed by the gluten-free options – such a thoughtful touch for guests with dietary needs. The resort’s pool is another highlight – a great spot to relax and cool off. The apartments are spacious, cozy, and well-equipped with air conditioning and fans to ensure a comfortable stay. What truly sets this place apart is the owner. They are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to make sure guests feel welcome. I highly recommend Kiwengwa Bungalow Boutique Resort for anyone looking for a peaceful, luxurious, and accommodating getaway!
