Lots of lush greenery, close to a very nice beach. Out cottage is older but we didn’t mind that. There was also a very nice porch to sit on which we enjoyed. Also conveniently located for walking in downtown Lamai. Our hosts Poon and Dao are very friendly helpful. Samui Sense is an older hotel and is showing it. It was a little misleading when we booked as it didn’t say anything about being a VRBO until after we had paid with no refund available. It was at that time it was explained that you can receive clean towels (only bath towel. No hand towel or face cloth)when needed but you have to pay 500THB to get your room cleaned. We weren’t sure exactly what this meant but found out that we had to buy our own soap and toilet paper. So, if you happen to need either of those things every 2-3 days you have to pay to have everything done. That seemed unusual to us. There is no TV or blow dryer There is a very nice swimming pool but it doesn’t seem to ever get cleaned. We were using the net s couple of times a day to clear out the bugs but the filter system doesn’t seem to be working, which should remove any of that. There is also a thick scum around the inside edge of the pool at the water line that is a collection of body oil etc and can be scraped with one’s finger nail as it’s so thick. I know the chemical levels are checked but that’s not enough. I’ve stayed in two other places in Lamai and that’s never been an issue. Would definitely be a big improvement.
