Horizon Hotel

Perfect location, quiet with a great view of the water from the 12th floor. Good food from the cafe downstairs. The breakfast had a wide variety of foods but the only coffee available was from a Nescafé machine with just 3 choices: black coffee, black tea and salted caramel latte. The black coffee was instant coffee and was bitter. I wouldn’t have considered trying black tea from a machine. The salted caramel latte was so sweet that I found it to be undrinkable. Also the cold cereal offerings were basically sugar and chocolate junk food. For a top notch hotel I think it’s shameful that they didn’t have an espresso machine or at least have brewed coffee; and didn’t offer a healthier cold cereal like muesli or granola.

Friendly and efficient staff - made check-in and check-out a breeze. Request for quiet room was accommodated. Room service was quick and delicious - both breakfast and dinner (dinner portions were huge- beware!). Clean room. Very comfortable bed. Very spacious and well appointed room. Exceptional view from top floor. Laundry service a bit expensive but efficient and highly convenient. Prime location close to Gaya Street night market and convenient shopping (convenience store, pharmacy, Borneo made souvenirs, clock tower, etc.) I did not try the free breakfast but other guests complained food was cold.

Everything was excellent. Staff were honestly one of the best ever . Thank you guys :)

Breakfast was OK, but it caters to Asian clientele, which is probably 80% of it's guests. Still plenty to eat and a little variety, so not really a complaint.

Location near the night market on Saturday nite and Sunday market in the morning. The bathroom was well designed and bed comfortable. The restaurant was good especially the dim sum. Parking was also good The tv channels haven't improved since our last stay the picture was grainey

Bed was comfy and clean. The sea view from our room was fantastic. The house keeping was on point and the location was unbeatable. We were within walking distance from a lot of food options and major attractions in Kota Kinabalu including Gaya Street, the night markets. The Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal is less than 15 minutes walking from the hotel, which is where you take boats out for snorkeling and island hopping. The front entrance is right by a sewer line that was a bit smelly on the hot days, but it got better between the rain and cooler days.

Location downtown kota kinabalu walkable near the seafood and night markets with the covered walkway. Walk to nearby malls. Rooms were comfortable and on the small side. After some room issues were eventually resolved by the hotel manager, the stay was lovely. Staff very friendly and nice. On site restaurant and cafe. Small pool with limited hours and closes at 7pm. Views from penthouse to ocean were nice. Smallish rooms. No room near sink to put toiletries.

The location is perfect, right in the middle of KK’s busiest area, directly in front of Gaya Street and close to the Craft & Souvenir Market. Everything is walkable. Check-in was smooth, and the price for the Deluxe Twin Room with Sea View was fair. We stayed on level 10 and the sea view was stunning, even from the lift lobby. The room itself is very spacious. Even with two single beds, there’s still room for an extra chair/table in front of the TV, plus a proper working table by the wall that’s great for getting work done. Amenities were all good, and the mini fridge is useful. The bathroom is spacious too, with a rain-shower option, although the water pressure isn’t that strong. Breakfast was solid with a wide spread, including local kuihs. There’s a RM 100 deposit per room, which feels outdated for a 4-star hotel in 2026. Service was okay but nothing particularly memorable. Water pressure from the rain shower could be better.

Quite disappointed with the breakfast, I would like to propose the top management should try the hotel breakfast for a week continuously. The sambal having strange sour taste, the bread and cake using low quality ingredients, the mee goreng was off-taste.

I liked the location because it was close to shops and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious with many choices. no
