The staff were absolutely exceptional - There was a major 6.8 magnitude earthquake two hours before we checked in, and every employee was there to make things as smooth as possible. Elevators were out, but they brought up bags to the 11th floor (we could take an escalator up the first five). Twin rooms are very spacious. A/C gets cold but you have to subtract 2 to get the temp you want (ie: set 19 to get 21). Great breakfast (amazing given the earthquake was 16 hours before we ate!). Some rooms have castle view, which was appreciated! It's not brand new, but it's well maintained. And can I say again: the staff are fantastic!!

It’s located in the center surrounded by shopping and dining areas. Charge for bottle water! Other hotels at Fukuoka and Beppu are unlimited and free. The ac not cold enough, it’s old style and the bathroom is old, too.

The location is very centralized, allowing you access to multiple locations within Kumamoto. Walking distance to the castle and all shopping areas. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room is quiet and clean. All good

We've stayed at the Nikko several times. The staff is phenomenal and very welcoming. The location is excellent and hundreds of food options are within easy walking distance. Kumamoto Castle is two blocks away and the tram that connects to Kumamoto Station and its shinkansen stops in front of the hotel. Absolutely nothing.

The room was small which is common it Japan, but it was very basic and simple for a 5 star hotel.

Everything! This was honestly my favorite hotel during my 10 day trip in Kyushu. The hotel room is VERY spacious. I could easily do pushups in the room. Bathroom is very spacious too. I had the nicest view of the city including the Kumamoto castle from my window. The hotel staff were so friendly from when I dropped off my luggage to checking out. The hotel is also located literally steps from the biggest shopping center of Kumamoto which made it so convenient to take a break from shopping or before dinner. None
