OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts

Close to shops and public transportation, cleanliness, washer and dryer, free show in the evening (Japanese drums were awesome!), pyjamas, bidet. If the room had a shower cap, iron and and lotion, I would give it a 10/10.

So nice to stay at an actual hotel on our trip — great value!!! The vibe of our room was soso nice. Clean! Loved the free lockers for after check-out and there’s a taxi stand right outside. Great location for a short Kumamoto visit.

Well designed room suited for a family of 4, though taller (ie. over 170cm) people may struggle. The separated toilet and bathroom were a plus. The terrace at the lobby was a very nice addition. Also, I thought the events at the lobby cafe/bar was a nice touch, though I did not attend any of it. The hotel's location was definite its best feature. The laundry / vending machines / ice room was a little cramped. I liked the digital payment system for the laundry as it solves the issues of having not enough coins, though I did see another person having issue with the payment system. So, may not be as user friendly for tourist from other countries but should not be an issue for domestic hotel guests.

High rated as 10/10. Location is great and there are plenty of retail spaces and restaurants around. Staff is great, always greet you as a valued customer. Check-in and check-out experiences are convenient and fast. They offer night time drum entertainment, which was fantastic. Quality and size of the room are great, there are still plenty of spaces to move around for 4 people with 4 big luggage. There is nothing I dislike. Everything is perfect and well-designed.

The property is well located with plenty of shopping and food options around the area. The room type we booked had a wash/dryer machine which suit our needs. No drop off area. The parking building affiliated with the hotel was full in the afternoon and we had to park elsewhere and incurred additional charges.

It is close to our interests of points. If it had an Onsen or public bath, it would be great.

The location was fantastic, right in the middle of downtown Kumamoto, walking distance from Kumamoto castle and right next to the bus stop for the airport limousine. The breakfast was good, the staff were friendly and the rooms were beautiful.

It is very inconvenient that we cannot drop off luggage at the hotel but to bring our luggage with us from the nearby parking lot. The breakfast arrangement is confusing as we expect to have a buffet style breakfast. It turns out that we have to pick a combo from the menu. No one explained it to us and we were waiting at the breakfast area no knowing what to do. It is also very time consuming that we have to wait for the staff to cook the food. Our family of 4 ended up not able to have breakfast together because some items took more time to cook and there was also a line up from guests waiting for food.

It was centrally located in the heart of the city. We like the comfortable resort feel with a natural modern Japanese aesthetic. You can see the lit up Kumamoto castle from the hotel’s patio. Nothing

It is relatively new so it was clean. Don’t be fooled by the pictures and the prices. You would be better off staying at a Japanese business hotel like APA (around $50/¥7500), which I have also done. The rooms are very small with barely enough room to turn around. The bed is a mattress on a tatami floor. Very little amenities. Slow, crowded elevators.

Amazing location with the tram outside and the castle close by. Very stylish and the staff were very friendly.

The staff was really nice and made us feel welcome. The deck was lovely to hang out on overlooking the Main Street. The breakfast was delicious! Comfortable room and great value. Hitting head on the upper bunk. That’s gonna sting for a while.

The staffs are friendly. The room is tidy and facility is new. The headroom of the upper bed is a bit low, I bumped my head a few times.
