Hilton Kyoto

Japanese style, spacious common area and room, so close to all the shopping in Kyoto. The indoor pool is a bonus for my kid. I wish there was an Onsen/hot tub

Location, Room size This is my 4th trip to Japan, and for the first time I noticed that this hotel staff are trying really hard to act like international staff instead of Japanese! The interaction with the hotel staff felt like talking to someone who is trying to hide their identity to accommodate us. Which is the opposite of what we love about the people of Japan.

Location is great. The green path leading to the lobby is a sancturary. Architecture is stunning too. Skew almost entirely toward western tourists with little Kyoto soul

Clean and beautiful Non

The place is less than two years old, so things are newish looking and well-appointed. The staff seemed courteous and efficient, but the place is so crowded (with what appeared to be large groups) that no feeling of 'personalized' service was possible. The Executive Lounge is a joke. It is crowded beyond what one would expect. This is clearly not a luxury hotel and the Exectutive Lounge offers no sense of exclusivity or restricted access. The hotel clearly caters to large tour groups, and also to guests who book rooms specifically with executive lounge access so that they can save money on dinner. Most upscale hotels that offer executive lounges with 'cocktail hours' during the evening might have some light snacks or hors d'oeuvres, This Hilton's lounge provides what amounts to a limited dinner buffet (of pretty sketchy food) which never-the-less encourages guest (many of whom are families with small children) to descend on the place in hoards. So - if you expect the Executive Lounge to be a nice place to relax at the end of the day with a cocktail...then think again. It is a zoo.

The room's are small but updated and clean with a comfortable bed.. I was a bit claustrophobic because you could not really see outside because the roof of the next building was blocking any view. The hotel was a small boutique hotel, I found the lobby very loud and busy. I did not like that you could not see out the window.

We loved the location! Amazing walking distance from Terramachi and Nishiki market. Plus we enjoyed the taxis pulling right up to the door. The rooms were quite nice as well. The staff were friendly and always greeted us right when we arrived or pulled away. We had an issue with the food one day and the managers were kind enough to work through a solution with us. In our last stay, we chose a boutique hotel that seemed to have more of a customer focus than this hotel. This time around, we wanted to try a familar chain hotel and see if it was worth anything more or less than the boutique experience. This was fine, but it wasn't great. We found a hair baked into the bread (this was resolved with managers but still needs to be noted), we couldn't control the air in our room, we didn't receive towels as often, and we noticed that they were not vacuuming the room. The customer service in Japan is absolutely elite, and I feel that there are other hotels where you can experience that better than here.

Great hotel with very spacious rooms, plenty of space to relax and enjoy your stay in Kyoto. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always smiling, which makes the whole experience feel comfortable and welcoming. Location is excellent, easy access to transport, shops, restaurants, and many attractions. For what you get, I found it great value for money.

Everything Not one thing

The hotel is brand new, which was a big plus for us as we prefer modern hotels. The location is very central, the lobby and entrance are elegant, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well designed. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, with a nice variety. A special mention to one concierge (the only male staff member), whose restaurant recommendations were outstanding. There was a brief concierge issue related to a restaurant reservation. We were told no further reservations would be made for us, even though we couldn’t find the restaurant due to unclear directions and Google Maps not leading to the location. After speaking with management, this was clarified as a misunderstanding, and the manager apologized and made up for it, which we appreciated.

Great Location, great room sizes, good gym and pool area. Staff at bar and checking in for Breakfast very slow. Bar staff really slow, missed many opportunities to sell us drink just because they just wern't there.

A really exceptional beautiful and newly built hotel. Our deluxe double was very spacious and comfortable and luxurious with wonderful restful beds. The bath and toilet facilities were first class. The breakfast and dinner buffets were phenomenal. The staff very friendly and super polite and helpful. We loved the beauty and the vibe of this hotel. The location was also very good with only a short walk to the Kamo river, shopping and the endless restaurants in the Pontocho area. The concierge was very helpful in making dinner reservations. We also liked view from rooftop bar at night but having to order drinks online and pick them up yourself is really not in keeping with a high end facility. Also the rooftop bar closes early at 9:30 PM making late night drinks impossible. We did not use the swimming pool which looked small.
