We really enjoyed our stay here because of the services, cleanliness and design of the room. The materials used and the design of the rooms were so tastefully done. The hotel had also thoughtfully prepared nice snacks, drinks and very good quality toiletries for each room. The blinds couldnt block the strong sunlight enough so I was woken by the morning sun around 5 am every morning.

Loved the style of the room, everything was so spacious and felt luxurious. My boyfriend is 6’4” so finding a place that had enough room was a priority. Location was a little far from everything, we found ourselves taking the train and cabs daily to get over to the Gion district.

Beautiful clean hotel with very friendly staff. Located in a quiet street. Rooms are well designed and comfortable. Nice breakfast. They are saving money on cleaning - make sure to review their cleaning policy - might not be for everyone. Hiding behind “eco” is something I’m not a fan of. But to each their own. We did get 1 cleaning in our 3 day stay included so that’s better than nothing. Breakfast was a bit pricey (around 3k jpy pp) for what was included, but we enjoyed it.

We had a wonderful stay at KAYA Kyoto Nijo Castle. The hotel was beautiful, peaceful, and had the largest room we stayed in during our trip to Japan, which made it especially comfortable after moving between cities. The location was excellent, very close to Nijo Castle, with plenty of places to eat nearby and easy access to the rest of Kyoto. While walking to the main center could take around 30–40 minutes, the bus stop was just around the corner and made getting around very easy. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the hotel itself felt very clean, elegant, and relaxing. We especially appreciated the traditional touches, the beautiful pajamas provided in the room, and the complimentary snacks, coffee, wine, and treats available in the lobby during the afternoons. Everything felt thoughtful and well maintained, and overall we really enjoyed our stay here. Nothing to add.

Gorgeous hotel, in really nice neighbourhood just 5 mins walk to Nijo Castle and station. Hotel is beautiful! Breakfast was really good! Room was gorgeous! Nothing at all!
-
Great modern hotel. Clean and comfortable Breakfast was way too expensive for what it was Front desk staff tried hard but missed the mark. We received a call at 11.30pm from the front desk. They misdialled the number but no real apology.

The breakfast buffet offered several options. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. The laundry room was easy to use and very accesible. Hotel is close to metro station so traveling to near places was very comfortable.

Everything, it was fantastic Nothing it was all perfect

The location is excellent, near many bus routes, restaurants, and one main subway line. I quickly found a place to have coffee at 6:30am and there were places to grab dinner at 10pm. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, allowing me to park my rented bicycle on the property, giving me change for 10,000 yen notes that I received from the ATM, etc. No complaints.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. The price on top of that is amazing.

It was a great mixture between modernity and classic Japanese architecture. It felt cozy and inviting. It was pretty close to a few convenience stores and the subway, which made our tourist activities much more accessible. The Nijo Castle as well as the Imperial Palace are close by, so if you‘re interested in historical sites this hotel is a must. The staff was always available and open for questions & the cleaning service was also top notch. The room comes with a lot of free toiletries as well as a variety of hygiene products, so don‘t worry if you forgot something. Ultimately, if we were to come back to Kyōto, we would absolutely book this hotel again. There was not a single thing we disliked, but if we had to say something, we’d pick the size of the pillows. They were a tad bit too small for our liking, but we‘re sure it can be fixed / they can be replaced upon request.

The hotel’s location near Nijo Castle made it easy to access trains and buses, and the breakfast was excellent.
-
Far away from Kyoto Station yet no free shuttle service to and from the station. Would be great if this is available. We stayed at Mitsui Garden earlier and the free shuttle service to Osaka station was fantastic.
