The family really like the Ryokan room and sleeping together in the traditional bedding. It was very quiet and peaceful. We were a short walk to the main train station and of course everyone liked the onsen. A lot of fun!
-
Staff was very accommodating. I had a minor medical emergency w my son and the staff did everything possible to help me w translation, getting a cab, even asking how my son was when we returned. I also liked the traditional Japanese experience w the tatami mats sleeping accomodations and free hot springs. Nothing.

I like staying in Japanese style ryokan as it allows the family stay closer together. Sleeping on tatami/futon is always more comfortable than small bed. The ryokan has on public bath so it is possible to relax. You can use microwave, hot water for noodles, ice etc so it is easy to have dinner inside if you do not feel like going to eat out. It is directly by the station or on the bus line to Kiomizu Dera. Nothing to add

onsen bath was good the shower head was leaking, room was slightly dusty
-
Location. Rooftop terrace. Quiet room. Unfortunately the public bath didn't work but they gave us 50% of the money we paid for the trip in return without us asking for it. So that's very nice.
-
Good in front of a large temple. Able to walk from station. Attendant at desk was very kind. Hotel needs an upgrade. I checked out after 1 night and moved to another hotel. Ryokan was not very inviting.

The staff were really nice and helpful. Was in a pretty good location had multiple bus stops in the area. The public bath was dated but very clean. Would stay here again for sure especially for the experience! Not necessarily a didn’t like but the property is very dated but everything is super clean and functioning!

10 min walk from kyoto station toilet is rather small, had a slight strange smell and had sign of mould
-
Helpful staff, free tea and coffee in the lobby, roof terrace, tatami, good value, public bath, close to station. Room a bit cramped, no meals
-
Clean, minimal and efficient. It was our first stay at a Ryokan so we enjoyed the public bath experience. Compared to other more expensive ryokans you don’t get the full shebang of services (meal included, futon beds folded away by staff) but Azumaya is definitely good quality for the money you pay. A bit far out from the “historical”/ more central Kyoto. We had to either take buses or cabs to get around.

Warm and cozy ryokan Room is Abit small and not so comfortable
-
Too pricy for what you get. Toilets and public baths are very small.
-
Very spacious (10 kyu) tatami room with ample space for futon and for opening suitcases. Comfortable futon. Excellent location for those wanting to visit Hongan-ji jinja and the Ryukoku Museum. Beautiful views of Hongan-ji across the road. The building is generally looking a bit tired and dated. The Shower/Bath/Toilet module was a bit on the small side. Lack of tea facilities in-room is very unusual for a Ryokan. The bath in the onsite bathhouse was comparatively cold for a typical Ryokan (perhaps 38 degrees) and did not appear to be continuously spring-fed.
-
A great authentic experience for not too much money. Lovely temples across the road. Bath house is an experience. Bathroom very small
-
Very comfortable traditional feeling Ryokan. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very nice views from room and rooftop garden. Clean and cosy room. Fantastic Location, if you don’t mind walking everything is reachable. There not much I didn’t like. However I would have liked some options for breakfast as it was hard to find something to eat in the morning. I also stayed in a room with a private bathroom which was great.
-
The location was near the station, you could reach it by foot. The staff was friendly and helpful in everything. The only problem is that, if you take a room with no bathroom, the only possibility would be to use the public bathroom...
-
I really appreciated the included bath house which I went to every day during my stay. The location was also excellent, close to Kyoto Station and about 30mins walk from the downtown area.
-
Very good
-
Great spot, not far from the station, across from a UNESCO site, it's wonderful. The beds could be a little more comfortable.. but they were also quite fine.

Beautiful view of Nishi Honganji. Very kind and helpful staff. Clean onsen and cozy room. Excellent location. I was worried that it might be loud on such a busy street, but traffic noise was not a problem. Over the weekend our room neighbors were very loud late at night. Just kids having a good time. Bring earplugs.
