Soraniwa Terrace Kyoto

Beautiful location in perfect area of Kyoto. Helpful and friendly staff. The rooftop foot onsen overlooking all of Kyoto was absolutely glorious and the open air onsens were incredible. I almost felt like this place was TOO nice to be at! Truly an incredible experience which I’d recommend to anyone

This is the best hotel I have been to. No word can describe Sora Niwa. You have to be here to believe all the things that I am about to provide. Excellent customer service from the day I entered to the day I leave. This hotel has everything you need from toothpaste, toothpaste, brush,Q tips, makeup wipes, shampoo conditioners body wash….., The views are spectacular from the rooftop to the side of the hotel. There are unlimited drinks and ice creams. Location is so convenient to most places. Bed is extremely clean and very confortable. Provide umbrella when it’s raining. Body wash is so soothing Bring luggages to your room. I have been here 2x and will be back to Kyoto again because of Sora Niwa. Highly recommended and will definitely refer friends and family. Thank you so much. I love everything here at Sora Niwa. There is nothing that I dislike about Sora Niwa.

Small rooms

Very small rooms. Hard for two adults to move around in there

The robe, pajamas, and slippers provided by the hotel were luxurious and comfortable. And the rooftop terrace had a beautiful view and fantastic breeze by day and night. The rooms were very quiet. The staff was outstanding. And we enjoyed the free coffee and drinks in the lobby area. A peaceful and beautiful oasis overall and a nice place to unwind after a long day of walking the Kyoto sights. The breakfast was convenient but that was its main benefit. We stayed at many hotels during our vacation in Japan, most of them less expensive than this one, but this was the least good breakfast.

Room was too small

Loved the onsen, the comfy well designed rooms, the convenient location and the rooftop/footbath.

Best hotel is my life!!! Great location, close to Gion, and all the Touristic places, amaizing friendly staff, daily room cleaning, breath taking view from roof top, such peaceful early morning and late night, onsem (hot natural springs) such a unique experience, (go very early or very late for almost no people). Free drinks, you can borrow umbrellas if you don’t have one, the amenities are amaizing. N/A

Ideal location, wonderful amenities like the onsen and lobby espresso machine that included matcha lattes as an option. The staff was kind and caring. The WiFi wasn’t strong enough to research activities or work, and the complimentary happy hour drinks didn’t include non-alcoholic drinks or sparkling water, just sugar-laden orange or apple juice. BUT otherwise I loved this hotel so much.

I loved the onsen which has beautiful views overlooking city including local temples and the river. The rooftop also has the view along with a footbath and happy hour. Finally I loved the beautifully crafted room with combined modern elements with traditional flourishes. I was given incorrect information about luggage forwarding that resulted in having to struggle with multiple heavy bags back to Tokyo ?

The attention to detail, overall quality, and hospitality exceeded my expectations! This hotel is boutique yet packed with layers of high refinement in every aspect. From the property's design, the location, and the terrace view overlooking old Kyoto, to the room amenities, the on-site program, the very friendly and heartwarming staff, and the spectacular food! This boutique hotel best resembles the Japanese spirit and culture in every way I could imagine, and then some. I absolutely adore this hotel and everything and everyone in it—and will definitely visit again. If only the room could be bigger!

Rooftop bar and onsen .

The hotel is beautiful and near the center of Gion. The bento box breakfast, while nice in theory, was not so great. First, there isn't a great place to eat them since the hotel lobby feels up quicly (especially on a rainy day), and second, there are several items that may not appeal to all, which means food waste. I would recommend to the hotel that they do more of a traditional buffet style breakfast offering both Japanese and western choices.

love the staff and location! the staff went above and beyon in helping us transfer our luggage to osaka!! LOVELY super friendly staff! facility was super clean. loved my first onsen experience! amazing rooftop views! amazing coffee/tea station at the lobby. loved every bit of amenity here! super worth it!!
