I and my family were very impressed with Alza Hotel. Receptionists were very prompt to help and willing to make more than basic. The room was plenty of space and cleaned. The hotel maintanence was exceptional. Nothing to complain.

This hotel was absolutely perfect for our 5-night stay in Kyoto. The room was large and luxurious -- it surpassed the standards of even much more expensive hotels in which I have stayed. Staff were beyond helpful -- no request was too much, even when it required quite a bit of their time (especially with 8 of us in 4 rooms, we often had diverse requests). The Reception Staff remembered all of our names and greeted us every time we left or entered. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Breakfast was interesting but not necessarily to my taste. The choice of a "Western" breakfast was somewhat of a misnomer. But there were always delicious croissants.

Beautiful traditional japanese style property in the heart of Kyoto. Walking distance to a lot of areas. Walk out balcony from the room was neat with a breakfast nook and a lot of complimentary amenities. Should have bought the breakfast here. N/a

Location and room was excellent ! They have complimentary sake in the common room which was just amazing ! Booking.com apparently sent the incorrect number of guests to the property and for the first day our little one did not get a breakfast. All in all the stay was great as we mostly stayed outside and the room itself was great. However for a family stay I would say there are great options with breakfast included other than Alza in the area.

Big rooms and great location No bar and restourang and no spa

Location was amazing. You can walk anywhere you want and right on the river! Nothing really

The location of this hotel is incredible to subway and central Kyoto. The room is so spacious, especially compared to our rooms in Tokyo. The bed was the most comfortable we had in Japan. Staff were very kind and helpful, especially with helping to ship our bags to our next hotel. This is a property I will absolutely recommend to anyone I know coming to Kyoto. Did feel a bit dated in some places.

excellent hotel, superb staff, great location, very clean and comfortable room.

Breakfast is okay. Japanese breakfast was very good; western breakfast was more Japanese. Needed to eat in the room because the breakfast area is very limited. This was okay because we had a large room with a very nice art deco table overlooking the river.

The property is perfectly located along the river in the gion district- it’s much quieter along the river and our kids loved playing down by it and watching all the animal life! Walking distance from a million wonderful food options and coffee shops and the staff was so helpful and kind. It’s truly felt luxurious! The bath and the beds were otherworldly and it felt like you were just being pampered at every step. We loved the comfortable cloud sleeping and are missing it already!

Beautiful amenities Had someone’s uber food come to my door in middle of night

This was an adorable boutique hotel in a fantastic location. It was quiet, but still very close to everything. I don't think the breakfast was worth it. Neither the Japanese nor the Western breakfasts suited my tastes.

No breakfast

Update the western breakfast a bit but overall great

It was very pretty.

This was the most gorgeous hotel room I've ever stayed in. The lighting, the gorgeous laquerware, the bathroom!! Every imaginable sundry item provided. I felt like "this is how gazillionaires live." At a price I could afford! Location was central to everything, close to the subway, the staff was super friendly and helpful. I never wanted to leave. I couldn't go out on the balcony, probably for safety reasons.
