The staff were very helpful and kind. The location allowed for a homey feel while still being close to public transportation. It would have been nice to have a microwave.

Good location. Clean. Rooms more spacious than typical business hotel chains. Spotty internet with intermittent drops and lots of trouble establishing initial connection. On check in, staff accidentally charged me twice and asked me to bring card down for refund but staff was not present in the morning to do the transaction. I was instructed to go to their sister location only to be told that they could only perform the refund at the original hotel and no one could help me there until 9AM. The whole process involved going back and forth and wasting close to an hour of my time, ultimately causing me to be late to a business meeting. The error was theirs and their staffing issues further exacerbated it. I understand that mistakes happen, but I wish they could have been more accommodating in helping address it and I honestly felt they could have been far more apologetic about the inconvenience. Interactions were conducted in Japanese and I didn’t get a 申し訳ございません or so much as a すみません for the 迷惑. Just a brusque 前の場所に戻ってもらうことになります. Not what I expected from Kyoto’s legendary hospitality…

biggest room I had on my japan trip, including another hotel that was twice the price. very cute and clean in terms of the hotel and the surrounding area. location in kyoto was good as it was walking distance to gion district. also can walk across the river easily to the more lively part of town. very good value for the price (<$100/night/person)

This hotel is located in a very quiet neighborhood only blocks from the Higashiyama Train Station, but also within walking distance of the Gion and Nishiki shopping districts. The Hotel Legasta Kyoto Shirakawa is a small hotel, and sometimes there is no one at the reception desk, but there was a way to contact the sister hotel located a few blocks away. The room was small but functional, and the double bed seemed more like an American queen size. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room, and the bathroom was functional. Staff was helpful; one even walked us to a local restaurant that she liked. Some of the streets kind of close were dark and felt a little unsafe to be walking at night, but overall the area the hotel is in felt walkable at night.

The location of the hotel was on a quiet street and close enough to the subway, Gion and Nishiki shopping and eating areas. Nothing

Easy to find from the station and right in the heart of a fantastic district of Kyoto. Front desk staff were extremely kind, including one receptionist who even recommended us a fantastic ramen spot. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The air in the room was pretty stuffy, enough that we had to leave the windows open which attracted mosquitoes.

The extremely helpful and considerate and friendly staff at Hotel Legasta Kyoto Shirakawa Sanjo was what I liked, enjoyed and appreciated most. Mikiko taking it upon herself to reserve me a seat at the local Noh Theatre when I mentioned that attending a Noh performance was a main goal of my visit to Japan was especially appreciated. I cannot think of anything I did not like during my stay at Hotel Legasta Kyoto Shirakawa Sanjo.

The staff were exceptional! Not just polite and friendly, but we're able to help us overcome any problem we had. We weren't able to check in as soon as we arrived.

Great location, accommodating and helpful staff. Clean room and bathroom, had all that we needed for a comfortable stay. Appreciated that we could leave our luggage after check out at their other location. A bit pricier than I expected, but would book here again.

The staff were really helpful. Not just polite and friendly. They took care of all of our needs competently. We were surprised that there was no one at the reception before our check in time. But once we got checked in we fell in love with the place.

Very comfortable rooms, plenty of space. Green door cafe around the corner was great for coffee and the area is cute

We liked everything) location near the Shirakawa river, interior, wonderful bathroom amenities) thank you!

There was a coin operated washer and dryer in the lobby that was efficient and convenient. The receptionist was very helpful. Easy to get to from Kyoto station. The sofa bed was made into a third bed but we only had two people. We couldn’t figure out how to fold the sofa back and it was too late to get help.

Tucked away in a backstreet for a quiet stay. Close to the east-end temples and shrines, somewhat walkable (~20-30 minutes) to the series of old town historical landmarks that tourists would come to Kyoto for. Gionmachi was about 5-10 minutes away, and Nishiki Market was a 25-minute walk. Chanwanzaka is about a 30-minute walk away. The older lady we met upon arrival was extremely polite, professional, thorough and hospitable giving us a breakdown of the facilities available. Her English was also very good, which suggests to me Hotel Legasta is very accommodating of foreign travelers. Laundromat was 400yen (300 to wash, 100 for 30min drying, though you if you have thicker clothes, you may need to run the dryer a second time). The triple bed setup seems like they really pushed the limited space for a 3rd bed. The 3rd bed was some sort of fold-out bed that wasn't straightened out. Having an open luggage and moving around in your unit is quite challenging. The mini fridge is so tiny there's very little room to place anything in there. The towel rack being placed in front of the bathroom mirror seems to get in the way of using the mirror is your used towels are hanging from here. The back windows didn't have a screen mesh, meaning we wouldn't be opening windows for fresh air unless we risked insects flying in. Also isn't that a potential safety hazard?

My view was great and the window opens all the way. It felt new and clean. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful!

Bed had quite notable springs that made it very hard to sleep.

The location and quietness around the area. The shrine is charming and the staff very kind

Location, size, clean

Small, quiet and clean; the room was spacious for its size and very comfortable. It was quite easy to get to and staff and counter for check-in was helpful and nice. Staff in the morning on our checking out wasn't there (we could still check out ourselves but felt a bit weird). Wish there were better explanations about the hotel's facilities.

The location , the staff and it was clean. There was no cleaning service in 4 days. It would be nice if the bathroom cleaned and vacuumed. Because of the women hair falls all over the place. It was so challenging to move around in the bathroom with so much hair and no vacuum cleaning daily.
