It had everything you needed plus a little extra like board games and tea bags. My top bunk didn’t smell fresh. It had a slight odor to it but some might say I have a sensitive nose.

Kind staff and good experience to sleep inside a historical house. You can hear every movement and sound even when you aren’t trying to make noise or disrupt others.

Very youth oriented — very chic and hip. Allows independence, minimal rules, can be awake for all hours, as long as you’re quiet, no “lights out at 11” which I appreciated. Freedom to do as we please, like living in our own home, sharing with other people. #communestyle The language barrier btwn the staff was a little tricky at times, I had to use Google translate to realize they were speaking Chinese and not Japanese (sorry about that) — also, cleaning time was different each day, sometimes started at 10am, other times, 11am, a bit inconsistent… tricky to be in the room while they’re cleaning. (Eg: vacuuming)

the environment and the place itself, lovely! ? Also very comfortable accommodation!!! No possibility of restrooms in the room and shower and toilets were outside, which was a bit cold in the morning to go there.

The best property we stayed at in Japan! Conveniently located 10-15 minutes from Kyoto station as well as being only a 30 minute walk from the city centre. Facilities were amazing and it felt homely Cannot fault this place

Nice old Kyoto vibes in this hostel. Love the heated kotetsu in the communal space during the winter! The staff are also very nice and helpful too. None

Traditional Japanese stay within good public transportation access to all attractions in Kyoto. WiFi connectivity was excellent. Staff provided an extra pillow for me when requested. One toilet is shared by multiple rooms/people. Only two showers serves the entire place. Towels are provided for charge which is weird! Toilet and shower rooms are outside the main property without heating which is not too comfortable when cold outside.
