This Inn is old, 1482. That’s what makes it so interesting and quirky. Room was clean, comfortable and roomy, including a spacious bath with a huge tub. Not suitable, however, for people with mobility issues. If you wish to experience history first hand, this is the place. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Parking very limited. No complaints.

The building is lovely and old, and the garden is very pleasant. The staff are helpful and friendly, and really did their best to help us in the heat (they lent us the office fan). The large bathtub was terrific. Breakfast should be included for the price of this lodging. They need to buy some fans. This is a beautiful old building with no air conditioning. In the 93-degree heat wave the room was stifling. This is not the fault of the hotel, but they need to take action to mitigate what will certainly be an ongoing problem as temperatures rise. To make matters worse, they could not turn off the extremely hot radiator that added even more heat in the bathroom. They said the radiators are plumbed such that turning off one radiator cuts hot water to the entire hotel. They need to communicate more clearly about parking. The hotel stated there was plenty of free parking in local streets but the entire village has "Resident Parking Only" signs in all windows everywhere. We ended up parking 10 minutes away in the National Trust car park. Later someone said we should have ignored the "no parking" signs.

Staying there is like stepping back in history. It was built in the 15th century. I absolutely loved staying there! The property is meticulously maintained and it is warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We didn't eat at this place due to not liking much on the menu but it was a fantastic place to stay! Would highly recommend! There was nothing I would have changed!

It was thrilling to stay in this enchanting, historic 15th century building where 90 degrees does not make a corner!! So charming, fun and cosy. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, and Maria was so welcoming and warm. Only those able to climb one steep staircase can stay here, so not everyone can enjoy this taste of history. Not that I didn't like it, just that not everyone can stay here.

    Some staff came across pretentious

I loved staying in such a historic place in this adorable village. The staff was very friendly. I really enjoyed the shaded garden for hanging out. It was very hot while I was there and it was hard to cool the room down. It would have been nice to have a fan.

The food was good. Too old, very small room.shower has no curtain so hard to use if you mind getting the floor of your room wet too. Front door has a curtain because you can look through the 2cm cracks in the old wood. No tv set. And only one small uncomfortable bench to sit for one person. Matress very soft.

Everything was wonderful - we loved our stay. The oldness of the property!

  • Engine customer Feb 2025

Excellent welcome and service Low beams - but goes with the character

Wonderful hosts and excellent food. The 15th century inn is full of character. Perfect way to experience being in stunning Lacock - I had a charming room with a comfortable bed and village garden views. Very quiet setting. Woke up to hear cockerels crowing! Beautiful, large sitting room just for staying guests with comfortable sofas, full of original period details with dark wood panelling and lovely windows and large fire. This room was very special and relaxing. Home-made cookies in the room was a lovely touch. Due to the property being a 15th century inn the characterful bedroom doors didn’t fit snugly - however, to my surprise I didn’t get disturbed by others at all and had an excellent night’s sleep and better than in most modern hotels. Perhaps guests all took more care to be respectful to each other.
