I paid ₦263,000 for a stay in a place where almost everything is broken or falling apart. The property is old, poorly maintained, and unsafe. I chose this hotel specifically for its proximity to the airport and the advertised pool. The location is the only reason I stayed. However, the pool is completely out of service. It is clearly neglected—the water level is evaporating, and the pool is filled with debris. This is blatant false advertising. For far less than this price, you can stay in a beautiful, modern short-let on Lagos Island with proper security, working amenities, and professional management. This hotel is nowhere near worth what they charge. Things escalated in a completely unacceptable and frightening way. The manager became physically aggressive and assaulted me, leaving visible bruises on my body. When I attempted to leave, I was locked inside the property against my will. The gate was deliberately locked, and staff refused to let me exit unless I paid for a broken glass door that failed due to its age and poor condition. I was effectively detained and had to wait for the police to intervene before I was allowed to leave. This is unlawful and terrifying behavior toward a paying guest. To make matters worse, management lied about the cost of the glass, claiming it was over ₦1,000,000, when its actual value is nowhere near that amount (closer to ₦280,000 at most). This felt like a clear attempt to intimidate and extort money after I had already paid far more than this place is worth. Additionally, I was supposed to receive a refund of ₦118,000 for the unused days of my stay to be applied toward the glass payment of ₦260,000. Instead, I was only refunded ₦100,000, with no explanation for the missing amount. The environment is chaotic and unprofessional.
