Muralha House

Located in the center of Lagos and a fast response time in communication with the reception. Unfortunately, the place was soulless. Another home converted into a tourist stay. But when booking at a local resident , we expected to be part of the local house. Also low isolation, and a lot of noise during the night (other residents, cats, seagulls) Place was cramped

I had a very unpleasant stay at Muralha House. You arrive to a locked house without any information, you ring the bell and it reconnects you to the host's phone. So no reception and no invitation. That already felt quite uninviting. The room was just fine but it faces the street and is at ground level so there was no option for me to leave the window open at night since it didn't feel secure. You wouldn't know about this from the photos or anywhere else. Then after one day the host decides to charge my credit card for the payment without no notice even though they first sent me bank details so I could pay them myself. Since they did not notify me about this it could have happened that I would pay them myself and be charged twice without knowing. They didn't message me after they charged me, they just did it and didn't tell me. That felt totally unprofessional and the host tried to save the situation by telling me on whatsapp that "All is safe. Yesterday you rest. Today the wether is fantastic. ... Big hug." Totally random positive messages sounding like a robot. What eventually really angered me was that after checking out (which I had to ask for instructions for how to check out because I got no information from them) I suddenly got an email from booking.com saying that "Muralha House notified us that you didn't check-in on 2024-10-18" which of course is a date that I checked in. After I asked the host on whatsapp if they can explain that, they never replied. Very sketchy place and communication and I definitely don't recommend to stay here. All they probably care about is business not customer service.

Location very good. Loved the little balcony overlooking the street. Communication with host was very good.

Exceptional

Great location, private bathroom Remote hospitality, our window was broken so we couldn’t open it for the entirety of our stay, nowhere to hang our towels, swimsuits (even though there is a garden) so they never dried, unclear why we weren’t charged through booking.com as usual so we had to make a bank transfer.

It's in the downtown, but though quiet in the night. The staff in super nice and the breakfast was delicious. It was a bit difficult to get in, as the staff opens the door remote controled.

bedroom was big enough, we had a balcony in ours that overlooked the streets! bathroom was a bit small but not cramped or anything. We can kind of wanted fresh new towels but there wasn’t any means to contact the owner, and the central kitchen/dining area didn’t have anything, not even a microwave.

We loved the location and the room of the property. There was a lovely roof we enjoyed our dinners on watching the sunset. Was disappointed with the communication from the staff given the lack of reception. Was hard to get an answer to a question as all communication was done through what’s app, and we would not receive replys. We asked to keep our bags in the property for the day after check out and it seemed like a very difficult ask. Despite the hotel cost the soaps ect we’re not replenished when the room was attended too. The wifi was also unreliable, cutting in and out the whole stay.

The location was perfect. It was near everything I wanted to see, and I didn’t have to walk very far to reach the restaurants. The sites I wanted to visit, and the beach were nearby so that was great as well. NA.
