Black Swan Motor Inn

The lady receptionist was excellent, friendly & accommodating. The maintenance man was rude knocking on our door saying “open your fucking door” when the smoke detector was activated because of smoke from cooking our steak.

It's filthy. Sheets clearly not cleaned / washed after previous stay: We found pubic hair in bed, and stains on the sheets. Carpet disgusting. Also $20 fee in cash for a "dog cleaning fee" is not mentioned on the website.

Unit needs renovation

Good location, good water pressure in shower. 2br had ample dining/lounge space. Windows coverings were not sufficient to block outdoor lighting which stayed on all night. Said lighting located directly outside bedroom windows. Bedrooms were far from dark. We all purchased eye masks to compensate for nights 2 & 3. No sharp knives present for cutting cheese, bread/meat. We purchased knives to prepare food. Only one large spoon and one teaspoon. Bed was short sheets, scratchy woolen blanket over sheet, bed spread over that. Had to re-make bed to be able to pull covers up to 'snuggle in". Floors were dusty. No free to air tv reception via aerial. Streaming services worked fine. Heating was slow to work, inside unit dust covered and outdoor one caked in leaves/dirt. Uneven tiles on shower floor presented hazard, used hand towel laid over during showering to negate this. Silicone caulking used on rear of shower wall, floor and toilet floor. Visible breakdown on cornicing, rotting framework.

There was no microwave safe container for cooking veggies. Only 2 bowls caused a little difficulty as we were a family of four.

Reasonable priced and is at the heart of Lakes Entrance right next to the beach and main shopping strip. The Wifi internet signal was almost non-existent so we ended up using our mobile hotspots. Front security door's lock was damaged and the front door light was also not functional.

We needed a very functional and usable room, and this accommodation had everything we needed, in all rooms. The heater was quite good (we arrived in cool weather), and had 2 separate rooms, which we really needed. Parking was great as well. There were small things that might have helped. The remote for the TV had given up (the navigation button would not move left or right, without extensive attempts). The pillows were a bit tired - we should have perhaps brought our own. The front room wasn't super cozy, but we were there to enjoy the outdoors, and there were actual black swans and beach and water views right across the street.

Breakfast not included so can't comment The information on the website when booking is pretty poor to be honest, I booked a family unit but there was very little information about the facilities provided and we only found out on arrival that there was a kitchen/cooking facilities available, which would have been good to know before booking. The name of the place on the booking site is in what looks like Chinese - no English translation. Discovered that the hotel is actually called the Black Swan Motor Inn but I didn't find this out until we arrived & it made finding the place a bit more difficult. Unless you only want to market to Asian customers then please include the name of the place in English as well The check-in process was also not great. We arrived late in the day (around 6.30pm) and the reception desk was closed. That's all fine - there was a sign on the window with a name and mobile number to call - tried to call this number several times and nobody answered. Eventually I figured out that there was probably an onsite manager in a room next door to reception, and despite a sign saying "don't knock", I did anyway and the manager eventually heard and came out to help. She was very pleasant and helpful but who knows how long we would have been waiting if I hadn't knocked. If you're going to give somebody's name and number for after-hours check-ins, please answer the phone!
