Exceptional property- we enjoyed everything about it. Wonderful staff, courtyard was great for lounging and it was fun to watch the peacocks, enjoyed pastries and coffee that were always available, complementary wine before dinner, comfortable rooms, incredible location. This was our favourite hotel during 6 weeks in Europe. Nil

Lovely welcoming staff. Peacocks add such atmosphere. Breakfast is superb. Having coffee and cake available all day is lovely. Free glass of bubbles in the early evening is lovely. Plenty of spaces to sit either outside or in. We joked that our room was 'in the dugeon'. We had to go down some steps to get to our room. Room itself was ok, but no view. I think it would be great if guests were told about the lift that can help them get up the hill. We found that ourselves and it made SUCH a difference not having to do ALL the steep climb ourselves. We are over 65.

They place is so cute and well thought out. They really go to the effort to attend to the details. Lovely staff. While it is near the castle, you have to remember that castles are on the top of the hill. I'm not sure how older travelers get in and out of this place. It is a workout every time you leave.

Quiet location .. peacocks a little noisy Nothing to dislike

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the evening happy hour and honor bar. We met fellow travelers there and got good restaurant recommendations. Hotel staff helped with reservations.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. But the best part of this hotel is the service. The staff are great. But wow the amenities- water (still, with lemon, with orange) and ice and glasses when you enter is so refreshing. Coffee, tea, and pastries all the time! And each evening there is sparkling wine out to self serve. There is also an honor bar. It was so wonderful to have dinner and come back to the peace and quite of the hotel and share some sparkling wine each night. Then port in the room. Just wow!! The hotel was beautiful and tranquil. Ubers would take you up and you would still have a 7-10 minute walk up to the hotel. Taxis would typically go to the entrance of the castle. There is a bus line that has a stop there too (probably the best option). But when leaving, I recommend asking the hotel call a taxi so it will come to the door.

Beautiful. Lots of character and nicely decorated Awkward to get to. Thank goodness for the 737 bus

Lovely room in a great location. Great breakfast plus complimentary tea/coffee and excellent pastries available all day. The staff are friendly and helpful. The peacocks, while a bit noisy, are beautiful! 0

A peaceful location right at the castle. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing, very welcoming. The staff is wonderful. The unique location can make it challenging to taxi back, but you should be walking anyway… it’s Portugal. Peacocks are beautiful but noisy, the front desk has earplugs.

This place was a wonderful surprise for us: not only that we felt the castle vibe, but we've had the best breakfast ever during our traveling experiences, and the peacocks walking in the yard and posing to my camera was like a dream come true. Unbelievable experience, I recommend this amazing place for everyone, being proud that I've got an opportunity to stay here. Wish to come back for sure!

Nothing!

Beautiful hotel, lovely breakfast and staff. Comfortably appointed. It is at the Castelo and a little difficult to get to. Taxis only, no Ubers. And only small taxis. And then they can't take you all the way up. It was a little challenging. Our taxi scraped his mirror while taking us as the streets are so narrow! I liked the hotel but I would find someplace more conveniently located the next time.

Only negative I could possibly think of is the steep walk up
