Hour Glass Hotel

Fantastic stay in the Hour Glass Hotel..Our double room was very nicely decorated and the bathroom seemed to be new in our double -en-suite .There was a mini-fridge and a fan which was very welcome especially on hot days . A TV and comfortable bed and everything is very clean .The owner is very welcoming and the pub at the property is a nice place to enjoy a drink with the lovely friendly locals.A bus stop outside takes you straight to the Tower Bridge or you can walk it in about 30 minutes.I We look forward to staying here again next time we visit London. The accommodation is almost opposite a bus stop so it was easy to get to London Bridge and our destination (the Globe Theatre). The area is not especially attractive - not many businesses I could see, but it was quiet at night and we were able to use it as a base to explore London from. There was a fridge and fresh milk so we were able to make cups of tea and eat cereal. For my daughter and me, a cheap twin room was what we wanted and what we got. Its up quite a few stairs which might be a problem for some people but we were fine with that. An extra pillow would have been nice!

- Location: Bus stop just 5m away. More busses 12min walk. - Neighborhood. No big/active streets near. Very silent at night. - Staff was very friendly and helpfull. - Room. Has comfy beds, small shower, but everything working. They even have a fridge with milk and serials. Tv was working too. Bonus. Pub is just next door. Real local one not like in city center. Even some music plays but you couldnt hear anything in the room

I like this hotel and stayed here numerous times. Nice and clean room. Having fridge in the room and kitchen in the hotel is very convenient, kitchen has always been clean when i used it. Also this hotel has much more character and vibe than many others in the same price range. Staff is very friendly and helpful. In general really good option for the price.

The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The room itself was comfy and the bathrooms were very clean despite them being shared. It’s a bit far from the city centre if you’re coming back late at night, but there’s excellent bus connections to the rest of london.

The staff is generally nice and welcoming. The place is cheap in a city that is overly expenses. If saving money is paramount for you, then this can be an option, but watch out for what I didn't like below. BEDBUGS ALET! after the first night I noticed some itchy red spot on my knee, hand and abdomen. More bites followed the second and third night. After that, due to the increasing itchiness, I decided to check out before the expected 6-night stay I originally booked. The manager refunded me two of the three remaining nights claiming that since I checked out after 11am I was not entitled for the night of that checking out date, which I found pity considering the gravity of why I was checking out. Not coincidentally, I haven't had any new itchy spots since I left that place (4 nights ago), clearly proving that that place, bed and sheet were the problem. Also, on the first night, once it was already late at night when going into bed, I noticed that the sheets were not clean, multiple hairs were present between the sheets (pics attached, fyi...both me and my partner have short hair), I had to sleep above the comforter using a blanket as cover.

The room and bathrooms are very small. They didn’t provide daily cleaning service, although we didn’t leave much trash either.

The staff was the high point! Very nice and helpful, all of them! The room was very clean in general, there were some breakfast items, coffee and tea, towels (changed every day if you need), shower gel, water in the shower was hot and good pressure, wifi worked perfectly. There is a bus stop right next to the hotel and a metro station 20 minutes away. There is a small and fun local pub, with nice beer and music, a place where the locals like to hangout, we could not hear the music from our room (ground floor!). If you are looking for a low budget in London, here is a very nice and pleasant place to stay! Some comments mention that the area is a bit scary, indeed it's not the nicest looking side of London, but me and my partner walked a lot by the neighborhood and NEVER had any problem or felt insecure. People were very polite or just minded their business. Honestly, we would go back :) Unfortunately, you can hear every time someone comes inside the building and can hear them talking (but you hear nothing once they are inside their room) so if you are sensitive to noise, bring some ear plugs. It's far from the center, but again, you have a bus station direct to the city center. For the staff, just a small friendly request to clean a bit better the shower's walls, as there was a bit of mold in our shower.

Cozy, clean, staff was great! Walls were a little thin and neighborhood was a little far from the train stop.

The staffs were friendly and helpful. This was by far the worst accommodation experience I’ve had in over a decade of using Booking.com. Let me clarify: this was not a hotel, despite being listed as one. It was essentially a set of rooms adjacent to a pub—nothing like what was advertised. The room was unacceptable: dark, damp, and filthy. The word “dirty” doesn’t begin to describe the condition—there were even blood stains on the duvet. The bathroom had a broken extractor fan, leaving the entire space smelly and humid. The location was concerning. Situated on a rough street in London, people were shouting outside all night—and with the room on the ground floor, windows directly faced the street, offering no privacy or peace. As for the kitchen shown in the listing photos—it wasn’t even in the same building. Guests had to exit the building, enter another one, go upstairs, and only then could they access it. I’m deeply disappointed with Booking.com for allowing this property to be listed as a hotel. After 10 years as a loyal customer, this may very well be my final booking through the platform.
