It was my birthday and the team had placed balloons, a bottle of wine and some treats in the room. Lovely touch. All the Staff were very nice and welcoming, and assisted almost immediately to any requests. Water dispensers and biscuits in reception on arrival very welcome while waiting for room . Fire alarm going off late in the eve and night 2 out of 3 nights we were there plus late afternoon on the first nights stay. Only one instance was explained otherwise no idea why. Breakfast was ok but the buffet was quite small for the amount of guests and consequently lots of people getting in eachbothers way and things running out before the staff had time to replenish. Despite these issues, I would still stay again

Setting, mixture of old and new architecture. Comfy bed. Great showers and toiletries. Quiet room. Good breakfasts. Fabulous staff ! The first room we were in, the air-conditioning didn’t work. The second room was great. Good air-conditioning, but we couldn’t turn it up.

Good location Very very disappointed and question how this Hotel could ever be rated 4****. Reception area too small with little space yo stand whilst waiting to check-in. When finally arriving in the room, the specific instructions that I requested a twin room had been ignored as the room had a double bed!! The fruit ans macaroons on a plate was a lovely gesture however the flies that were sitting on them and flying around the room not so much One bedside light didn't work. The fridge was definitely not working and the contents were warm. After much complaining to Reception, an engineer arrived, told me the fridge did work, my father, a Refrigeration engineer with 60 years experience and a Member of the Institute of Refrigeration, assured him it was faulty, the Hotel engineer advised new refrigerators were on order. He left and returned with a a cold refrigerator that did work. When I tried to have a bath, the plug assembly fell into the bath, it was clear this had happened before. Again an engineer appeared after many calls to Reception, only to put the pieces back in place and turn the water on to fill the bath and find no water pressure other than a trickle. The engineer left saying the previous room guests had the same problem. Later, we went to Reception to ask where the bar was, only to be told that the hotel bar is closed at weekends. Breakfast room, tables too close together, staff not clearing tables and extremely inattentive. Would suggest anyone contemplating staying at this hotel check reviews on TRUSTPILOT!!! This Birthday Treat was a complete disaster and could easily be classed as Faulty Towers Hotel!!

I was dubious as thought I may be staying above a pub! I was very wrong! Beautiful character features make this property stand out amongst your usual chain hotels, it’s amazing, staff were very helpful and polite plus the location as we were going to The Barbican was just perfect! Amazing value for money - support them and stay here!! Nothing
