In leafy Rotherhithe, this YHA hostel is just a few yards from the banks of the Thames, 10 minutes’ walk from Rotherhithe Overground station or 15 minutes from Canada Water Tube Station. It has an on-site café/bar and restaurant and 24-hour reception. Most of the YHA London Thameside’s rooms contain bunk beds, and all have bathroom facilities. Bed linen is provided. The O2 Arena is a 5-minute Tube journey, while the stylish bars and restaurants of Canary Wharf are 1 Tube stop away. The South Bank, with London Bridge and theaters, is 2 miles away along the river. Pastries, savory snacks and drinks are on offer at Quays café/bar, and the Traders Gallery restaurant has a varied menu. There is also a TV lounge and luggage storage available for a surcharge

The lobby area was very nice. Marketing seems important to them. Staff didn’t give much information upon checkin, I wasn’t told there wasn’t towels in the room. I’ve used a lot of hostels over the years and never had to pay to use a towel but found that out later when I went to have a shower and had no towels. Check in person asked for my passport but then wrote me down as American instead of Canadian and didn’t even apologise. Had to pay a 10£ deposit to rent a very sad broken hairdryer. Then the property sends multiple emails after checkout asking for reviews so I wrote one to stop the emails. Hoping to forget this place now!

It’s a nice building, well located. In general it’s ok but it doesn’t have a laundry and there is none close by, which is not what o expected for a backpackers hostel. We are in summer and the fan does too much noise which is very inconvenient to sleep.

The staff were LOVELY and so, so helpful! I loved the little lobby area. It was really a great experience and I would stay again. The WiFi was out!!! That crushed me a bit because I needed to work. Also it would have been nice to be allowed to use an adapter rather than having to pay for it :/ . Overall great time though and exactly what I was looking for, for a night in London.

I stayed at this property in September 2025, and the Wi-Fi was not working at that time. Now, in April 2026, the Wi-Fi is still not working. It would be better to inform guests about this inconvenience in advance. Additionally, the bed was uncomfortable, and I had back pain for three days.

nice location, staff were very nice. beds were very comfortable. wifi didn’t work well and the water in the bathroom out of the sink sometimes smelled odd:(.

The drinking water arrangement - those taps are a good initiative. Manage difficult clients well especially the ladies. The lounge is quite big and the compound is neat. Everywhere is well maintained. They use the heater, you get warm water, and arrangements for towels. Not sure they can do anything about this but some clients make it difficult to access the bunk above them. They put stool, bags in the way, that you almost trip in the middle of the night especially when the main lights are off but maybe I will report it next time it happens

This hostel is modern and spacious! I really like the water bottle refill station and the spacious lounge area with lots of comfy couches and tables and places to charge my phone. I like the big glass ceiling which let's in lots of natural light. The staff are super amazing! They kindly printed out my plane ticket for me. I liked how spacious the room was, and the shower was nice and the locker was spacious. Although the neighborhood is a bit far from the more touristy parts of London, it is really nice neighborhood with lots of lovely trails along the water, and the C-10 bus stops right in front of the hostel. There is a nice little neighborhood grocery store about a ten minute walk away. I also really like how the staff are there to help 24/7. The shower in my particular room took a while to drain. This isn't always the case because I stayed here twice and the first time I stayed here the shower drained perfectly. I felt the kitchen was a little small and slightly lacking in some kitchen equipment. I like how there's a free food shelf in the kitchen, but I kind of wish there was a reserved "free" section in the fridge as well. These aren't reasons to avoid this place though, as it was excellent value and I would come again.

The staff is very welcoming and the property is clean and organized. The hot water was not very hot, and the water spilled in the bathroom when we showered. However, the situation was manageable.

The location was good, close to two tube stations. The staff were very nice and helpful with the checkin. The price was great and really worth it.
