Location is excellent. Just a few blocks away from the Downtown Metro station where all the trains converge. Reasonably also walking distance from the convention center. I was worried about having to Uber everywhere (being LA and all) but I was pleasantly surprised to see the metro service most of my transit. 2 complaints. The lights in the rooms are not bright enough. With the big windows it's fine in the day, but at night I really wish the lights were brighter. It is LOUD. Folks are revving their engines in the street below all night long. Maybe it's like that everywhere in LA... I fell asleep eventually, but it wasn't easy.

AC was filthy and did not work, window blinds were broken.

The rooftop was cool. I loved the atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay. Great location. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Our check in time was almost 2 hours late. The staff apologized and offered to give late check out.

excellent service, clean and enjoyable nothing

The most memorable part of our stay was coming back in the afternoon to find the sink clogged with black sludge, followed by the A/C leaking onto the toilet and the carpet wet from a room flooding on the same floor. We were moved to a different room at midnight and thankfully I was refunded the early check in fee. The room we were moved to had no bathroom door, mold on the shower walls, and the one tiny ledge in the shower was loose so everything fell off immediately. In the rooms and the lobby area the lighting is so dim that even during the day it feels like a cave. The elevators were small and hot despite the rest of the hotel being cool. There are obviously many problems with the infrastructure here and I feel bad for the staff for having to deal with all this as well. Every member of the staff we interacted with was very helpful and accommodating.

My room wasn't as clean as it could of been found old paper bags by the fridge and someone's mascara in the bathroom but otherwise it was clean. The staff were incredibly helpful our first room the ac wasn't working and they moved us to a room with working ac

We arrived very early before our check in time and the staff were very helpful and understanding. They stowed our bags for us and arranged an early check in, which we really appreciated. The breakfast at the hotel was good but a little more expensive than we anticipated because there was an 18% service fee.

We loved this historic hotel that has been updated very tastefully into an upscale yet very comfortable place I could consider a home away from home. Downtown LA location was a pretty centralized location to airport and all the tourist attractions and beaches. Valet parking was a bit pricey so I chose street overnight parking (same block or one block over) as well as close public secure lots very reasonably priced. The one thing I did not like was being approached more than once by people on the street outside the hotel quite near the hotel entrance at night for money and when not given anything being met with a nasty comment or more of a threatening glare. The hotel needs to add a little door and street security to keep the area a little more clear for customers so that returning to the hotel at 9pm doesn’t become a real challenge for guests and something that presents itself as possibly dangerous situations. Otherwise the establishment was amazing and we really loved the roof bar and pool, the views were really great. The Exchange lobby cafe provided wonderful baristas that remembered names and drinks of choice which is really surprising these days. The free refill coffee until noon was also a nice little bonus! Film crew for AppleTV arrived our second day to film at the hotel and we got to spot a couple of well known celebrities. Highly recommended all the way around!

My rooms AC unfortunately did not work and they had someone come check it and “fix” it but it never got cooler than 78F in my room my entire stay. The room itself was alright. Bed was comfy. The reason I am giving this hotel such a low rating is that they have very bad business practices. They did not disclose a service fee to me upon booking or at check in and after I checked out they used my credit card on file to charge a $130USD fee. When asked they took days to answer and said this is a facility fee My booking through Expedia was paid in full ahead of time and noted fees and taxes included already. To not disclose a service fee and charge the card after someone has already checked out without disclosing any information is just bad business in my opinion. Would not recommend this hotel due to the bad business practice at this point. If you have an extra fee - disclose it. Don’t just charge it secretly after guests checkout

Nice place, very loud at times and busy but we did appreciate the security features and all night staff

The valet service was very nice even though we weren’t having anybody park our car. They greeted us every single time we came in and out. The front desk staff was always polite and answered all of our questions. The beds in the women only private quad were a little squeaky and not that comfortable. Blankets were thin, and there were no sheets on the bed, but just a sheet that we had to put on our own bed. For over $200 for the third night, it would’ve been nice to have some nicer mattresses and comforters. The bathroom very much needed shelving or at least hooks to put toiletries. We appreciated the quiet location as per our request, the hallways were clean and the hotel was very unique and in a good location. Thank you so much for our three nights day. We will come back again.

Very clean shared dorm room. The other guests were also very clean too. In the past staying in a shared room in LA had been a very uncomfortable experience but this was a good balance between affordability downtown and still maintaining a safe environment.
