staff, pool, river view and grounds were amazing!

Breakfast was amazing. Delivered to your room/terrace every morning. The property is beautifully maintained and the owners were so very thoughtful. The swimming pool was a much added bonus. Also, they offered free use of bikes when you wanted one. The food was delicious for lunch and dinner as well. nothing

The property is situated right on the river in a beautiful, well maintained tropical setting. We were served a delicious breakfast on our veranda over the river. The staff (subject to note below) were so warm and helpful, in particular Chan and Yuan(sp?). We loved our stay! We had a brief and unpleasant encounter with a man who appeared to be the owner or manager. We found him unnecessarily curt and aggressive. Also, though no fault of the property, there is a loud Chinese karaoke club across the river that goes on late into the night. This however did not bother us as we had the windows closed and the AC on.

Everything was wonderful from the beautiful grounds filled with flowers and orchids everywhere to the clean large rooms with balconies. A real plus are the Riverside bungalows. Everyone of the staff were beyond thoughtful and kind. They provide a free shuttle service to town as they are a bit outside in a peaceful, quiet area..The restaurant had excellent food with a nice variety. You could choose one of four breakfasts served on your balcony. There is a great refreshing pool to lounge by. We've been around the world and I would place this near the top for it's value. Nothing. We even like the tiny, loud frogs!

Breakfast was so delicious, so nice right next to the river too. The garden on the property is gorgeous and well maintained. The staff are so very kind and accommodating. Just the bar across the River that ran from about 2030-0200 on 2/3 nights I was there. But it’s not Thongbay’s fault.

We loved the location out of town and on a side road. Our room was on the river and large and comfortable. Breakfast served on our small desk was wonderful. A bit of a hike out of town. Unfortunately, there is a bar that plays loud music across the river. Owner/manager seems a bit hard at first but I think he is actually a softie once you break his shell!

There is a karaoke bar across the river that likes to have a good time till late in the night but was manageable.

The shuttle service was excellent. A large, clean, comfortable van, and multiple times a day made it quite convenient. (Especially after a hot day, the AC in the van was heaven.) Breakfast was so good and having it on our atmospheric terrace, watching the slow boats drift by over the river, was an amazing start to every day. The grounds are such a vibe, with little shaded nooks to sit and relax. But what made Thongbay an absolute gem is the service. Not only are all the staff so kind and helpful, but Bouavanh at the front desk went above and beyond. She booked our train tickets for us, one to Vang Vieng and the other to Vientiane, and when we took an overnight boat trip to Nong Khiaw, she let us keep our bags at the hotel overnight and had them waiting for us when we returned. It's the unsurpassed service that makes Thongbay an absolute 10. The water pressure in the shower is a little weak for our liking, but that's so minor compared to all the positives of Thongbay.

Everything at Thongbay was great. I loved my Bungalow by the river. I enjoyed how they would bring an ample and tasty breakfast to your room each morning at the time of your choosing. The hotel is a couple km from the city center, but for me it wasn't an issue because they provide a regularly scheduled shuttle bus in the mornings and evenings. If you plan your day properly, the distance to town isn't an issue. The staff is friendly and helpful. And I also ate dinner there a couple of nights, which was reasonably priced and excellent. Overall, highly recommended. All was OK

Superb stay. Thongbay is a great base to explore Luang Prabang. Comfortable room and bed, good shower. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, including in organizing transport/picksup to the waterfall and to Nong Khiaw. Breakfast is excellent - ordered from a menu the night before and brought to your room at the time of your choosing. We ate dinner in one night and it was also great. Location is about 25-30 minute walk from the city center - we walked a few times with no issues, but they also have a free scheduled shuttle in the morning and evening. Nice gardens and pool. Would love to stay again. The room had a great little balcony - The river view was mostly blocked by trees so didn’t necessarily add much. Would have been perfectly fine without that. Not a complaint - we loved the hotel.

Very nice place with excellent staff and good food. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably spacious with both air conditioners and fans to help keep things cool. Balcony area to sit outside and nice landscaping. It's a bit too far from the main part of town for convenience. About 20-40 minutes walking each way depending on what part of town you're going to. This is fine for exploring, but if you want to go get something to eat that's not made at the hotel that means a long walk in each direction as there are no places nearby. The other thing is not at all the fault of the hotel, but somewhere relatively nearby a bar was playing very loud music until around 1am every single night.

The staff was so welcoming and helpful when it came to checking in, requests, bookings, and arranging taxis to drive into the city. They were friendly with service and inviting. The location of the guesthouse is perfect with a view of the river and not too far from the shops in town. One of the neighboring homes surrounding the resort would play loud music sometimes very late at night.

Booked a bungalow set in a beautiful tropical garden overlooking the river. On arrival Mr Ty explained everything clearly and was always ready to help and offer advice. In fact all of the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and had everything we needed for our 5 nights. We also made use of the laundry service which was very good. Breakfast was selected the evening before and served to your room at a time of your choosing. There is no better start to the day than sat on your balcony enjoying the views and breakfast! The pool area is great for a nice cool down after a days sightseeing. You can walk to or from town in about 30mins; we did twice or catch the complimentary shuttle bus which operates a few times a day. Loved our stay and thank you to everyone who made it so enjoyable. Nothing

Beautiful place!! The personal was very friendly and always trying to help. We had a beautiful stay in Thongbay guesthouse. I would definitely go back here if I am back in Luang Prabang. The hotel also has a restaurant that offers super nice food and they will take it to your room. The pool area was very pretty. Even the location it’s not super close to the kitchen, they offer a free transfer to the city
