Red Roof Inn Madison, WI

The office looked clean when driving up. I booked in a hurry, I knew it was non-refundable. I was put in the backside of another building. Very sketchy, you could tell families were living in some of the rooms. Their room doors were open with pets and kids running out, plants in windows, curtains torn with a cat in the window. Vehicles up on blocks, looking to be broke down. Kids bicycles laying down. It looked very lived in. We pulled away and parked on the other side. When we got up to the second floor, a few men were asking what room we were looking for, we didn't respond, they asked us again. I responded with the room number, they moved closer to our door. Our door was very unsafe, like it was kicked in. We stayed for maybe 10 minutes. We left the keys in the room and left. This was very scary, very unsafe. There's obviously something going on there. My comment should have gone here. I should have taken photos of the surroundings.

Icky room. The staff were wonderful but unfortunately that was the only thing good about the place. We won’t be staying here again.

That they didn't make me put a security deposit down, maybe cause there's nothing there to break? Its already broken. The room smelled, bad. Tiny bugs crawling all around in the bathroom and God knows where else. Hair in the towels. Non functional coffee makers (the kind that take pods, yet there were filters in the basket and no coffee). The sign reads Free Wifi, yet the signal was too weak to use. So, I had to use my data which I had to sit by the window for a signal. They did have basic cable Worst of all is the staff. Most hotels are kind and treat guests kindly and with respect, NOT HERE. Lmk if I'm wrong, cuz they sure did but where I come from maids and the front desk staff should be kind ? to guests paying to stay at their hotel. Not come early, pushing them out early cuz your their last room. Come walking by looking in your room as if they expect you to be up to no good. Looking at what you have in your trunk and questioning something as ridiculous as a roll of toilet paper ?, really? If my guest helped themself to a roll of TP, I sure as Hell wouldn't call them out. You don't need a degree to understand that a business figures these little things into what they charge, so, you already pd for it. The best thing is I didn't even take their roll, I just happen to keep one in the trunk. When I called the 2 maids out for harassing me, they literally mouthed off to me as though I'm wrong, then called the Police saying I'm a belligerent guest. The manager didn't want to hear a complaint about his as$%le maids and sided with them ?. I barely waste my time to complain and am one of the most easy going people you'd ever encounter, but this place and this staff definitely ruined my morning and venting in a review is the best way I can feel a little better about this. Take my advice, this place is actually worse than its shitty 4 outta 10 rating. I'd sleep in my car before going back to this dump. And yes, all of the other similar rating/price hotels in Madison ARE BETTER. Don't support people like this.... Stigma is awful.

Bed bugs under pillow and several other stains under sheets Very unclean , not sanitary at all My travel companion wants to call Wisconsin health department on them
