Ola Hostel

Very cute room. Owner was lovely and very friendly. Location is excellent. You're allowed to smoke in the common area inside, there is an open roof, but it was still a bit smoky. The single rooms are right near the entry and exit so you get a lot of noise from people going in and out at all hours.

Good location. Near the Main Street but also very quiet. Room is very small and dark but enough for a solo traveler. The host is polite and kind. Room is very small.

I like the location and the friendly owner and co-travellers I met in this hostel. It's inside the heritage city of Malaka. It's definitely one of the good hostel in Malaka and highly recommended. Nothing much. Perhaps, add a round table in the common area to promote more communication and friendly ambience amongst traveller. But overall, was a good place to stay in.

From the moment of arrival Sam, the congenial owner, makes everyone feel relaxed and welcome! The room is nicely and thoughtfully arranged. The addition of 1 beverage a day being offered at a discount in the cafe for room guests is a nice perk and Sam makes delicious beverages. There is a pleasant communal area where guests converge for conversation, reading, sharing drinks and planning activities. I attribute the wonderful vibe to Sam, the owner - he lays the groundwork for bringing out the best in us guests at Ola - thanks Sam!

Very friendly staff, great location, comfortable place with nice areas to socialise with others

The only downside for me was that the patio that is cute but small semi open is a smoking area as well . Sometimes the smoke can go through under the door and get in ur room . Plus if u aren't a smoker as soon as someone starts smoking it ruins the mini space for you .

A lot of mosquitoes, so make sure to have a spray

Ola was perfect - it's a fabulous location, the room was perfect, and the key card system to get in and out made it very easy. Go through the cafe to check in.

Helpful staff, tips on where to eat and visit, great location, clean room and other facilities; nice common area in the back yard to relax.

I like the vibes when entering the property. Its so neat and tidy. I stayed in dormitory for two nights. I think shoes-rack if available will be good. Need improvement is praying room. A small one is enough 1x1.5 m heading to THE WEST. Equipped with prayer matt will be great.

A beautifully designed, very chill place. Comfy beds and quiet spaces (I got two very good nights of rest); thoughtfully designed and placed outlets, light switches, appliances…it’s those little things that can make a traveler’s day! Clean bathroom and clean, visually attractive common spaces, a friendly and communicative owner. Last but not least, a great location. Couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you! N/a

Excellent location a few steps from Jonkers Walk. Very clean everywhere. Sam the owner is kind, friendly and helpful. Good quality linen, pillows and towels. Sufficient and roomy toilet/showers (4) and sinks (6). Nicely decorated with eclectic items from the past - even the doors and handles are unique pieces. Lots of books to read/trade. Donation box for unneeded items a future traveler may need. Rooms are a bit tight, smaller common area. Very small fridge for drinks only, no food allowed. Free filtered water has chlorine smell.

Central location, the hostel was quite clean and well kept. All facilities were available. Sam was quite friendly and hospitable.
