Great location excellent breakfast. Long haul with our luggages.

Beautiful room with a large king size bed and two decent sized single beds. Bathroom was gorgeous. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was in a lovely room and the offering was very good. Included gluten free options. We were able to leave our luggage and then relax later in the day in the seating area upstairs beside the breakfast room while we waited for our bus. At €330 for the room, it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it to experience Matera and I would go back.

The Dependence suite was like something from a movie, absolutely beautiful structure and design. Direct view on the bell tower, temperature always cool and comfortable. Terrific location to the local piazzas, afternoon stroll, and views of the Sassi. We met so many wonderful people who live in this city while visiting. They were so kind and made us feel so welcomed. Our suite had a small private area to sit outside and enjoy a bottle of wine or a smoker, we particularly enjoyed this during the sunset hours. The property has the thermae Romanae which was one of the most relaxing places I have ever been, we spent time in the bathes on both Friday and Saturday. Friday we basically had the entire place to ourselves , it was an absolutely incredible experience. Would recommend doing the bathes on a weekday rather than a weekend.

Gorgeous property right in the middle of the Sassi. Our room was huge and beautiful. The common terraces are lovely for a sunset drink. The thermae is stunning with the main pool being quite cool and more of a swimming pool. A great experience. Free pick up from the car parking is ideal to avoid dragging luggage up and down stairs. Lots of stairs to carry luggage up but you could ask for a room close to the elevator. Matera is all stairs anyway

The location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town, within walking distance from all the main touristic places. The view from the room was spectacular The staff was super nice and helpful, facilitating anything we needed, from recommending us to reserve a parking spot, and driving us from the parking lot, free of charge. The town itself is amazing. The AC was a bit hard to maneuver. The smell in the room was a bit suffocating, smelled humid (although there was no humidity signs visible)

We had a fantastic stay. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. AC was cold and staff was exceptional! No complaints.

It was a unique experience staying in a cave hotel. The location of the hotel is great with several restaurants within walking distance . The room was comfortable enough for a couple of nights stay . The shower was so tight and small. I could barely move around . I wished they had porter to help out bring luggage up/down in our room considering there were stairs and uneven floors/surfaces to reach our room. The person that checked us in also didn't give much instruction or information about the hotel. He just rushed to check us in and handed the keys .

We used the spa and the chlorine from the pools destroyed my eyes for 3 full days. We enjoyed the experience at the time but the showers had no towels and no lotions and very poor quality soap.

Beautiful! The Roman baths were amazing! Location was sublime A little tough to get there with bags.

I just posted a rave review of this hotel on TripAdvisor, but the gist is, it's a unique, historic place and well worth the money. Beautiful -- both the hotel and the historic old town of Matera. I wish they would turn on their air conditioning system when it gets hot in May, but like many hotels, there is a specific time when they go from heating to air conditioning.

The place is in the middle of Sassi and close to all amenities. Room was clean and quiet, with outstanding view. Its one of the bigger hotels in the area, so many groups stay there. Be ready for it when Breakfast are served ;-) We liked to SPA, definitely a must if you decide to stay there. And stay in the reception area if you can, take depandance room only if you have to.

The thermae and the bathroom. A little difficult to find. We were not given maps on how to get around.

Cave used as a room hotel. Close to the town center. - misleading info on Booking about A/C, but in the room was very humid. - No balconybehind, only few chairs in the front of the room. - No tea cattle to prepare hot tea - 1 trash can only, could be 2 in the toilet, where was an extra sink area

    Locations Not a thing

Fabulous place to stay in Matera. Not only do you get to stay in a beautifully appointed cave, but they also have a lovely spa, with Roman baths, Turkish steam, sauna and relaxing in cave pool. Ample breakfast. Location is perfect and right in the historic area. The staff were ideal. Internet is available but inside the cave was not always reliable.

Breakfast was very nice with multiple choices of cheese, pastries, and coffee.
