Pianelle Resort

Everything about Pianelle Resort was fantastic. Do not hesitate to book this hotel. The staff were amazing.Five star service. They helped with everything from helping with luggage, making delicious drinks, and making dinner reservations. The rooms were spacious, beautiful and unique. Best location in the heart of everything. We were sad to leave. Everything was perfect

I don't think you can get a better location than this! We could see the Church and Giant Rock-church right from our room. Also, they have a van that brings you from a secure parking garage about a 10 minute drive away right to the front door of the lobby. Materia is mostly stairs (not streets), so most places are much harder to get to with luggage. I am sensitive to dampness and was concerned that staying in a cave would not suit me, so we requested a room that was "higher up", and got a magnificent room that was in its own little structure above the level of the rest of most of their other rooms. While it had all the charm of being "old", it was renovated so perfectly that it was like new inside, plus, no musty smells, no dampness. The room was very large with a couch and fireplace that we did not need to use. Everything was spotless. The breakfast room was also clean (no musty smell even at the lower level). The breakfast was more than we expected (in qualify, quantity, and selection.) The staff were very helpful with making dinner reservations for us when we were having a hard time doing so ourselves. nothing. I would go back to this place (and this room) in a heartbeat!

Lovely stay in Matera in a great area. Very friendly service. Nice rooms, good breakfast. Recommend catching the view of the city from the rocky church. Best view you’ll get and close to the hotel! Also recommend using the hotel’s parking and shuttle service (paid). Nothing

Location. Staff friendliness. Room cleanliness. Room design. Value. Rooftop could have had a bit more character, but the view was grand.

The cave-style room was unique and beautifully designed, and the location was excellent for exploring Matera. The historic setting made for a memorable stay. The transfer service was significantly overpriced and the arrival process felt chaotic and poorly organized. Communication was lacking, and it did not reflect the standard expected for a hotel at this price point. The breakfast was mediocre at best, especially by Italian standards, with a limited selection and underwhelming quality. We also found the staff to be distant and not particularly welcoming, which made the overall experience feel less hospitable than expected.

From the moment Pianelle Resor arranges your parking and transportation directly to the Resort door you know the staying is going to be an experience. Beautifully decorated room not competing with the landscape itself (Matera main character), walking distance to the historic city main attractions, restaurants and shopping. Delicious breakfast with both savory and sweet delicacies, as well as eggs to order (important for us), both room and bathroom with excellent natural light and ventilation. We visited during Festa della Madonna della Brunna (Matera's main celebration) and were able to see the fireworks from our bed. The resort faces a canyon, so even during a hot wave we were able to feel breeze coming from this beautiful landscape.

It truly exceeded our expectations! Staying at Pianelle was a magical experience. The place is beautiful, spotless, and the design of the sassi cave-style room was absolutely stunning. Every little detail in the apartment made our stay feel special. The location was perfect, and the communication, attention, and overall service were outstanding from beginning to end. Breakfast was also magnificent. Everything about our stay was simply wonderful — a 20/10 experience!

Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, stunning communal areas in the cave. The staff were very helpful. Room was very comfortable and excellent shower and bathroom.

The location was perfect! Nice spacious modern rooms and friendly staff. No air conditioner only heater system in the rooms. We asked a friendly staff member, and the alternative option was to turn off heater system. Opened a window but there was no screen and huge mosquito bugs were flying in the room. The mattress was extremely firm and uncomfortable which seems to be very common in Europe.

Exceptional, helpful reception personnel. Excellent location, convenient to everything. Loved the breakfast. No A/C in any room. Apparently they were still running heat for all rooms and they don't turn on air conditioning until May for energy conservation. Our room was hot and because we had to leave the window open for cooler air, we heard loud voices outside. We believe that the A/C issue should have been disclosed during the reservation process. It was more difficult to get good sleep. However, yhe resort is very beautiful. We would highly recommend it but verify A/C before confirming reservations. We loved roaming around the city especially at night. Good restaurants within 5 minutes walk. We also loved the hike in Parco Murgia. However, it was quite rocky and requires good stamina and good hiking shoes.

The staff, the view from the room, how spacious the room was, the rain shower. What a gorgeous place. I wish they had fresh orange juice instead of bottled one at breakfast. But apart from that, all perfect.
