Great location and beautiful view of the Sassi!

Google maps led us on a ridiculous extended hike up and down multiple levels of stairs to get to it. Not for anyone with mobility or heart issues! Go to Piazza Duomo. Entrance to little alley is left of church entrance - far end of tourist lookout viewing wall.

Excellent place, amazing view and perfect location.

It was the 3 of us and we decided to book this beautiful apartment right next to Al Duomo for 3 nights while we were in Matera to visit family. The absolute highlight is the view of Sassi from the windows which is absolutely breathtaking! The engineering was marvellous with the proprietario utilising the high roof of the cavernous dome to add a second story bedroom, bathroom and study space over-looking the ground floor using a steel frame. Luxuriously spacious with cosy lounge very comfortable for 3 people. Lovely ambiance and well-heated; did not feel like it was single digit weather at all! Kitchen was well stocked with brioche buns, jam, cereal and a lovely espresso machine with enough espresso pods to last us the duration of our stay! The apartment was equipped with everything you’d need for a short stay with the self check in making you feel like you’re a local with your own place! Small things to keep in mind (some we didn’t even bother asking for as it didn’t affect us as such due to the short nature of our stay): firstly, the apartment is in a restricted zone, meaning you cannot physically take your car there (unless you have a special zonal permit or it’s an electric car). We were not aware of this (or of driving laws in Italy in general for that matter to be fair) and ended up with a €90 fine which through a combination of charm and good local contacts, we managed to waive. However, this is important for those with a car rental who are driving down to Matera with heavy luggage. Therefore, this should be explicitly advised either while booking or afterwards, so that customers know where to park and from where to transport their luggage to the flat. Secondly, unlike our other stays, there was no cleaning and maintenance service. Now since the apartment was super clean when we checked in and well stocked, we didn’t feel the need to ask. However, for longer stays, general cleaning, housekeeping, fresh towels etc. would be required.

The house was very nice

The amazing view from the windows on Sassi, it is unbeatable. The relais is situated in ZTL. The very helpful host Angela met us at their garage outside of the ZTL and took us with our luggage in her car to the apartment. The kitchen is very well equipped. The relais is located just aside of the cathedral, so you are in the heart of the old city, just above the Sassis, everything you want to see in walking distance. There are two bathrooms, but they both are small, so the functions of a bathroom are separated into these two bathrooms, bidet upstairs and small shower downstairs.

A lovely apartment with great facilities. Very comfortable beds and lots of space with 2 bathrooms. The location is the best. Between the 2 sassi, up at the Piazza Duoma and east to pop in after walking during the day. So convenient and the view from the apartment was wonderful. Francesco, a wonderful kind host who allowed us to go into the apartment early as it was available and we arrived early. Really good communication with host. Thank you for this special accommodation. Location, very comfortable and secure and spacious. Host was very helpful and knowledgeable Breakfast lacked fresh healthy choices. Dry cereals and packaged goods.

Angela was kind enough to collect us from the parking building and take us to the accommodation and did the same when leaving as we had mobility issues. The location was all we hoped. Although by the Duomo very quiet, amazing view. Breakfast provided was lovely. Angela provided us with lots of information. Tv didn't work and she insisted on getting it fixed immediately even though we didn't need it. I can't praise her and her amazing accommodation enough. please stay you won't be disappointed. Great location and lovely hosts. The views from our windows were fabulous and we had everything that we needed. Very compact and no outdoor space. However we knew that when we booked so no complaints

It’s location, it’s breath taking views, the cleanliness, it’s comfort level, the separated rooms and restrooms, personnel is very nice, with prompt communication and very very kind. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like

The location was perfect as it offered sich wonderful vierws from the apartment. A "wow" factor for sure. Plenty of room and the bed was comfortable. Everything was neat and tidy. Our host Angelea was exceptional and got us out of a bind on two occasions. Nothing was too much trouble. More power points in the kitchen area. A little frsutrating with just the one for 3 appliances. Being a lover of the traditional 'English' breakfast I would have to say the breakfast was just ordinary. We would have liked something savoury included.
