Super clean and great location. Arrived early and we were allowed to put our packs away while we waited for our room. We had the private room ensuite.

I booked 1 private room for 3 and 1 of us was in the shared dorm. The private room was amazing. It had a small kitchenette, microwave, AC unit, TV, and a private bathroom. But my daughter had a rough night in the shared dorm. She didn't have sheets or even a pillow, just a bare bed. It was hot and stuffy and there was no fan, and there was one guest being loud in the room until midnight.

We liked the room. Good space and location. Enjoyed the outdoor space too. The bed was comfortable and all was clean. After we checked in and went to the room, I slipped on water that was on the bottom step going to the bathroom. Not sure why it was there because nothing leaked in the bathroom.

Would have been perfect had the ladder to the top bunk been better. It was awful.

Excellent location. Very clean and quiet. Shared kitchen. Paula is an excellent host and creates a welcoming and professional environment. It would be nice to have coffee provided since tea is.

The hostel had curtains for the bunk beds. Appreciated the clean linens, towels and snacks left inside the locker. Affordable for the area. I did not realize this hostel was not just for pilgrims and allowed other “tourists” to stay. I don’t like the sleeping quarters were mixed male/female. One gentleman in our room seemed too friendly with a young girl and made her and me uncomfortable and concerned for our personal safety. He came in at 3am and made a lot of noise. The upstairs bathroom was a shared bathroom and someone came in while I was in the shower. Additionally, the bathroom door did not lock. I did not know there was another private bathroom downstairs, so I would have used that instead. The location was in a very noisy area and people were heard outside yelling until 5-6am. For pilgrims doing the Camino, use caution if you want a quiet place to sleep. Ask for a private room. There were no openings when I booked.

Lovely place in a great location, close to the front and many bars and restaurants. So comfortable, a home from home, with all facilities. Welcoming host, easy entry.

This was my second stay at Fishtail. My first was two years ago and the host had recommended a local restaurant, Restaurante Lage Senhor do Padrao. Both this Camino and our last this was my best meal of the whole journey, and I am so grateful to this place for recommending. I loved this stay- the suite was quite large, comfortable, clean, cozy, with easy access for check in and out. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and I would recommend as a vacation stay for loved ones visiting the area. Nothing. It was self check in this time so I missed the friendly interaction, but thankfully was able to track down the restaurant recommended last time.

Location Pricey for a bunk bed

The street noise at night

This place was amazing for the price - stuff was super friendly and common rooms big, diverse and well equipped. Each bed had a lockable storage space and curtains so it feels really private. The staff and the inhabitants were very friendly - I enjoyed my stay and got to surf quite a lot. Everything you would wish is nearby - the breakfast comes form a lovely bakery working since 80s run by older Portuguese ladies, there are all kind of shops, you can store some small snacks in the fridge but Matosinhos is famous for its restaurants so a local cafes - some of the best I've been to and very affordable. Location is perfect and hostel - very cozy. Only thing I can think of - this place is very popular for Caminho walkers, some of whom wake up at 7 and make noise packing. Take earplugs if you wish to have a full night's sleep.

Good for all our needs. We liked it.

Clean property and a nice location. We got the wrong room assignments emailed to us. There were people in our beds on arrival. We were able to sort this out in about 30 minutes and get settled in.
-
It is very loud at night and they don’t have AC or fans so I was sweating throughout the night.
-
Very comfortable bed in the suite. 1e de maio is an amazing bakery nearby. The room was too bright bc of a light in the stairwell of the suite that turned off and on by itself all night. Bring an eye mask.

Staff was incredibly helpful when we arrived and went above and beyond to helped us locate my friend's lost phone. The hostel is in a great location walking distance to sights, restaurants and the Camino.

Clean, well managed

The location is convenient and the facilities were very clean. There are so many bunks squished into one room there is no room to move or go through your things. There’s one bathroom on the bedroom floor that they prohibit “class 2” (bunk bed purchasers) from using. You must go downstairs to the second bathroom which has one shower and one toilet for 12 people. Reception hours are three hours a day so it’s very difficult to contact anyone, you let yourself in and it’s people run.

Clean and comfortable No AC - it was a nice temp while we were there, with windows open, but quite a bit of street noise. I have great ear plugs so was ok for me but just a heads up for others.

Clean and cute. Comfortable bed. Hot water. Great location. Paula gave excellent recommendation for dinner. Shower was a bit small and could use some toiletry holders but water stayed hot and that’s what matters most.
