YOLO HOSTEL MEDELLIN

More than twenty years of travel and this is one of the most well-designed hostels I’ve stayed in: spread out common areas w/ varied seating/tables, decent kitchen, separate toilets & showers, etc.

Some roommates smelled like street urchins (literally)

Close to restaurants and nightlife. Secure and spacious. Facilities are ok. Shared restroom are average. Shared showers need some hangers and shelves. River produces white noise, good for relaxation during night. Exiting the building requires unlocking, it may be unsafe during an emergency. The room has no TV, no fan, and no table/desk. Showers need some shelves and hangers for clothes. No breakfast, no coffee. On arrival, there is no signal posted outside indicating the address nor the hostel name.

I stayed 10 days in this welcoming, well managed and maintained hostel located in a prime El Poblado location close walking distance to nice restaurants, quaint cafes, and convenience stores. My room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom had a walk in shower and the water pressure was good. The hostel was quiet overnight so I always had a good night’s sleep. The staff were all courteous, professional and English speaking. Located adjacent to the hostel was a terrific cafe called Betty’s Bowls serving healthy meals for breakfast, brunch and lunch. As a guest of the hostel I received a complimentary delicious bowl for breakfast each morning at this establishment. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Medellin.

Yolo is a great place to relax and unwind, and it's close to the main area. It's also very safe, and while it's a bit removed from the nighttime noise and parties, it's not far. Well... I don't really have any bad things to say about it, the only thing is that they turn off the lights at 11 pm to respect people's rest time, but that wasn't a big deal for me. I think it depends on what each person is looking for.

I had a great stay here! The owner was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable right away. Breakfast was included and available all morning, which was a nice touch compared to other places. The rooms were clean, the atmosphere was good, and overall it was a pleasant experience — I even decided to extend my stay a couple more nights. There’s not much to complain about — overall everything was good. Toward the end of the day, the staff seemed a bit tired, which is understandable since they work hard keeping things clean and organized. Nothing major, just a small observation. The owner was great and the overall vibe was positive.

Yolo Hostel was a fantastic place to stay. It truly felt like a second home. The accommodation was clean and simple, and the evenings were wonderfully quiet and peaceful—perfect for unwinding after a day in the city. The hostel is well-equipped with everything you might need, and the owner was incredibly kind and helpful. A special highlight was the breakfast and lunch spot right next to the hostel. We enjoyed the most delicious breakfasts there—highly recommended! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

YOLO is a very chilled hostel, far enough from the hecticness of the tourist area but close enough to be there in a 3 minute walk. I liked the hammocks, amazing breakfast and coffee at Betty's and the staff were the best. Also, I did a river tour and the transformation city tour with Federico, which I highly recommend! I can't think of anything

It’s a nice place to meet international travelers and be around the night life in El Poblado. The staff is lovely, the breakfast is pretty good and the hostel is very clean all the time. Even though the breakfast is good it was the first time that I was in a hostel and had to pay for the coffee, as they just give you the food. Also it’s always the same breakfast, it doesn’t matter how many days you’re there. My room had no opened windows, so it was very claustrophobic inside of it. The location is good, but keep in mind that you’ll have to walk 30 minutes to get to the closest metro station.

Federico was incredibly helpful. I had a few issues with topping up my SIM card and checking in for my flight the following day and he helped me solve everything. Super friendly, outgoing and there to help you with anything you may need. Thank you Federico!
