B&B del Duomo

Lovely host who was super responsive and accommodating when we've had any issues, including offering us an alternative decent accommodation when we reported the lack of hot water in both the shower and basin. The location itself was too good to be true as the place was literally next to the Duomo di Messina. Unfortunately this is pretty much it when it comes to pros. Photos of the place at Booking.com and what it actually looks like are literally two different worlds. Photos show a nicely looking and well-maintained rooms whilst the reality was brutally different - out of service lift, dirty walls and floors in the corridor, infuriating dimming light in the corridor, lack of hot water in both shower and the basin and cables sticking out of the walls in the corridor and our room. Long story short - the place looked as if it was in the middle of a renovation and it was absolutely not suitable to host any guests at the time of our arrival!

Very bad experience — I do not recommend it at all. First of all, we did not get the room we actually booked which it was completely different from the pictures. The shower was broken and there was no hot water. I have a 1-year-old daughter, and I specifically requested a cot for her, but it was not provided and no one advise me that this will not be provided. Another thing — the balcony was in such dangerous condition that we couldn’t even go out on it. After our complaint, we were provided another stay in a different hotel.

Accomodation is in the center. All monuments, are nearby.. The room is poorly equiped and some parts were destroyed. Specificaly toalet and shower cubicle.

Amazing location close to the duomo and not far from the port! Staff went above and beyond to help me out getting into the room!

It was quiet, very central, parking on the street was easy and Gwendolina was a delight The first room was unsuitable, but this was fixed immediately

In the very centre of Messina, opposite to the Duomo. The host was nice and gave us loads of info about the town. Definitely recommended! It would have been nice to have shampoo and shower products. Despite this, truly a great place!

The room was lovely and the location was great. We didn't like that it didn't have a fridge when it was advertised as having one. The view of the duomo was actually the view of a tree that blocked the view to the duomo. The shower was awful - luke warm at best. The included breakfast is at a cafe that doesn't have it's hours on Google - goodness knows when it opened, we missed our included breakfast. Perfect central location, clean, comfortable, good price. And quiet despite central location. Shower was a bit strange (no doors?).

Absolutely nothing! I didn’t manage to have breakfast and I wouldn’t have sat down since the smell was disgusting on the whole floor. It was a nightmare. The sewage smell, the little mosquitos in the room coming out,I believe , from the drainage pipes of the bathroom that weren’t covered. I had to stay with the balcony open all night because of the smell and got sick! The property is in a main plaza over a cafe, people talking all night. Didn’t manage to sleep at all. It was a very windy night and the balcony doors, that are falling apart, kept on banging. I came back after just leaving the luggage late in the evening and there was no hot water! That’s when I lost it and started writing to the property, the owner Guendalina, ignored my messages and in the morning said she could give me another room. First I was there only for one night, ( that shows how much she knew about the people she had in the property) then second and third would that give me hot water or stop the smell on the whole floor? So she said she would refund the stay. I said I would appreciated the gesture but still no money in my account. So not only the property is a fraud, she is too!

So close to main square. Guy on desk happy to talk to me in Italian - better than immediately switching to English. I need the practice! No storing luggage after official check-out. Offered, but liable to have no-one to answer the door.

Very nice area, the room was good and the balconies were amazing. Close to many things and a nice breakfast just around the corner.
