Nothing We got to Messina a few hours before checkin, so I messaged saying, I understand check-in is at 3pm but could we drop our bags and was reminder of 3pm is check-in, but told if we send our passport details through WhatsApp, the details to enter the accommodation will be sent to WhatsApp, for us to leave our things. They do not greet you in person and would only communicate through WhatsApp, which would not allow us to take/ send photos. After a lot of back and forth, we were told to send photos to an email address, which we did. I kept checking my WhatsApp and by 4pm we had still not received anything, and have never heard from them since. So after a few tears and feeling we were going to be stranded in Messina with nowhere to stay, we decided to look for alternate accommodation. We also noticed they marked the booking as cancelled, which would be ok if they’d refunded us! I submitted a complaint through booking.com, they put a request to the accommodation to refund us, but to no avail.

Clean and spacious room. No support for business travelers. I asked to use an itinerary to press my shirt and I had zero reply or response. Such things are a basic service.

Breakfast was 'ok'...it could have had more variety in terms of cold cuts as well as some vegetables and eggs. There was no iron or corkscrew on the premises. I requested both on the second day of a four night stay without a response. These are basic things that a good B&B should offer.

Good breakfast. The room was cleaned daily. Friendly and hospitable person looking after us over breakfast and taking care of daily cleaning. Could not check in at the time requested because I wasn't comfortable providing ID over email/text and needing a face to face check-in. Despite it being now a legal requirement in Italy to undertake face to face check-ins, there was a robust pushback from owners. This led to delays checking in and some considerable stress. Overall, the check-in process was very unpleasant. Also, the main door to the property could not be locked (door to room could be locked), which was a concern during the stay and no discernible attempted was made to fix main entrance door locks (over 5 nights of our stay).

Tram was a very short walk, Tabacco Shop for tickets around the corner.

A pleasant surprise. Comfortable room in a small B&B. Breakfast was very good with a selection of cereals and pastries. Very clean and good communication with the host.

It was for one night so we would be close to the ferry the next morning. GPS had trouble locating it so it was not fun getting there at night in traffic. But the apartment was clean, breakfast was more than adequate though self-prepared. There was no staff on location. It’s located in a gritty but safe part of the city and street parking was available if not plentiful. It was clean, food was good and close to the ferry.

The apartment was spotless, we could even put our helmets at the top of the wardrobe because it was clean! Kitchen is equiped with a lot of appliances and the choice for breakfast was good. As soon as we entered the kitchen a lady came to prepare us coffee. Check-in was via whatsapp and codes, the responses were quick. All in all, great experience, I definitely would recommend it!
