Pelican Hotel

I was told this is vip access room by Expedia i didn’t get any vip special. Expedia said my break fast included in during checkout but Expedia didn’t pass on to hotel that information so was charged by hotel. It is Expedia mis representation than hotel

Yeah, right this week staff was so friendly and accommodating! We had a few surprises with a free drink and breakfast. The hotel is perfectly located to everything near Ocean Boulevard. We enjoyed sitting out front, enjoying breakfast and drinks would highly recommend this hotel!

The breakfast was very good. We ate for 2 days. We did not have lunch/dinner at the hotel. The room was nice and well decorated. We had a small room nothing fancy. The Bathroom was on the smaller side, but I loved the shower, my Girlfriend did not. We didn’t opt for a room with a view so the window looked at another building next door. Doesn’t bother at all. We had only 3 issues with our stay. The pillows on the bed look big and fluffy, but they are very light and not very support at all. My head went straight to the through to the bed with 2 of them. The Bed felt cheap and it definitely needed replacing. The mattress had been sunken in on one side and the other side I would slide off of it. The last issue which is very important. They have small fridges in the rooms with no freezer. I asked for a fridge with a freezer or a freezer they did not have one. My Girlfriend is diabetic and needed a cold place for her insulin and a freezer for her ice packs. The original fridge in the room was broke and they replaced it. We had to ask the Bartenders to keep her icepack in the freezer in the kitchen. Had to use buckets of ice to keep her insulin cold because the fridge did not get cold, even when it was changed out. All in all, if they fix the bed and fridge we would stay again. Love the Staff!

- the room was clean and comfortable - staff was great - the free breakfast was awesome - great location it can be loud at night, so that might be an issue if you like to go to bed early.

The Hotel manager was excellent - he was very helpful when we arrived and helped bring our cases from the valet parking bay which is roughly two blocks away. The location is excellent - right opposite Muscle beach and in the centre of the night-life Service was appalling - we waited over half an hour just for someone to come and take our drinks order on the first night, and even when I went to the bar in desperation, I still had to chase it twice more. The level of service didn't improve much throughout our stay. The hotel was shabby in the rooms with the 'authentic' art deco furniture just plain tatty. In addition when we booked the hotel the parking was $30 a night. By the time we got to the hotel it had gone up to an eyewatering $48 a night and you had to wait 40 minutes to get the car out of the valet parking each time. This is a hotel that feels it does not need to try too hard because of it's heritage and location.

The customer experience was exceptional. The location is superb, offering a prime ocean view. The complimentary amenities were a significant highlight.

It’s a shame that one reception staff ruins this review. Don’t know his name, buts African and wears glasses (I’m African too, just in case). He was unreasonably rude to simple questions about dinner times that I asked in a friendly manner. Not acceptable. By the way, breakfast was 08.00 - 10.00 on weekdays. The pictures of the Pelican Hotel on Hotels.com aren’t accurate- probably photoshopping. Furniture and flooring are generally old. The bathroom is the best space in my room. The hotel is located on a busy road outside the beach, so it was noisy at night time.

We had a beautiful stylish (50’s) room with sea view including a great breakfast. The sea is just one minute walk across the legendary Ocean Drive. What a marvellous beach.. the water is so nice that you can stay for hours The music from all sides might be a bit annoying if you are looking only for tranquillity, but who would want that in South Beach …

Fantastic location. Beautiful, spacious room with great views. Friendly and helpful staff. Great bar/restaurant attached to the hotel.

Breakfast was excellent and included in the rent. Great location in the middle of South Beach. Quiet room considering being in the middle of the action. Art deco style. Room 304 was a bit on the small side as I was travelling with a collegue. Bathroom quite spacious. Parking is very expensive when travelling by car.

Complimentary American breakfast between 7-11AM and a free drink (5-7pm) was included with our reservation which made they stay that much more enjoyable. Shower pressure was good which something I always take into consideration when booking a hotel. Just make sure to adjust that hot water valve carefully or you will get burned as that hot water was scolding hot. Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. Cons: View from the room was not the best (i.e., staring at a side of the adjacent building) unless you book the beach view rooms. Complimentary breakfast was limited to only (3) options although they had several other items on their menu. Some fixtures in the bathroom shelf were broken/falling down. Valet parking had been excessively long wait times (20-30 minutes) even though their wasn’t anyone else getting a car as the parking garage is 2 blocks away. Despite the latter, I still give them 5 stars as me and my wife still enjoyed the overall experience and weekend getaway.

Superb

Location, very nice small hotel. Good breakfast included, room cleaning every day, 2 bottles of water every day. Nice stuff on reception. Impolite waiters, serving breakfast as if they were doing a favor, with an arrogant expression on their faces.Common guys, do you really think you're in charge there?!

On top of the looks, the complimentary perks were very generous. Free breakfast, daily cocktails, and beach chairs/towels were much appreciated. Would stay again!

Lovely bones but the room in which I stayed is in dire need of a refresh. Probably hasn’t been touched in decades, and sadly that shows. Also a very strange man on reception who wasn’t particularly friendly.
