Red Lion Hotel Monterey

The photos are better than in person. The property probably needs a remodel. The pool looked nothing like the photos. It was so dirty and not kept up to standards that we couldn’t even use it. The only good thing was that the staff were really nice and helpful.

Broken coffee machine in the room, water damage, A/C didn’t blow cold and was a trip hazard, and staff was unaccommodating when I asked for an additional hour for a late checkout.

We arrived their internet was down; they couldn’t assign us a room due to it. Then the young woman at the front desk was not friendly at all. Her demeanor was ugly… the room was okay, but had a funky smell.

the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the only thing that could use some improvement is the grounds keeping but over all our stay was good and this will become my new go to for when i stay in Monterey

Unclean. There’s a difference between

The place was not good. Dirty outside and paper thin walls. The front desk was slow. One of the ladies was pretty nice but two others were rude and looked angry and moved very slow. Don’t ask for anything extra because it won’t happen.

The location was good but that’s it!

Place felt dingy, not confident that is was thoroughly cleaned. I will not return or recommend.

Nice to have a good size fridge and a microwave.

The hotel manager is exceptionally nice and very accommodating and the housekeeping staff go out of their way to assist with any request. The hotel is right across the street from a whole foods market and the Del Monte Mall making access very convenient. I would recommend thos property to anyone visiting the Monterey area.

Room was adequate other than they didn’t supply enough towels, no washcloths or hand towels or a bath mat. Sink was way too tall for an average person and faucet was loose. Bedding was clean and comfortable. Location was sketchy and hot tub apparently hasn’t worked for some time. Homeless people hanging around the gas station next door made us uncomfortable parking there.

We had an unusual experience when we entered our room as the dirty linens from the previous guest were on the sofa bed when we walked it. I let the front office know and immediately a young man removed the dirty linens, without an apology. The ice machine on our floor didn't work. I have to walk to the 3rd floor for ice. Our ice bucket didn't have a plastic liner so, I only used ice for my thermos. The hotel did have good coffee, and a good location. The front office workers were kind too, that helps.

Upon arrival no one was at the front desk, we waited for a good 15 minutes before a man showed up to tell us we could not get the room yet, so we returned later. We booked one room with two bedrooms via Expedia. Needless to say, we did not get what we booked. The rooms are very rundown, the fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling on a wire, the wall paper in the bathroom was peeling off. The floor did not feel thoroughly clean, for a two queen room you would think they would have four bath towels, there were only two and we had to make due with the hand towels. Buyer be ware, I would choose another hotel down the road, there are tons of them. The location isn't bad but there are other 2/3/4 star hotels closer to town way better than this. Will not stay here again. I will say one thing, one lady at the front desk was very nice and tried to be accommodating when we were checking in.

Rooms were Dusty they did not have 2 beds rooms so I have to get one with a sofa bed but no blackest I went to the office waited about 45 minutes to get help but they did not have clean blankets to Offer so they move me to another room were the bathroom had Mold

The room was missing towels, soap and one had 1roll of toilet paper that was barely enough. The room felt to closed in, I recommend leaving the curtains open and maybe a window slightly open or ac on automatic to keep to room fresh instead of a little stuffy. Other that that the beds and pillows were comfortable. Thanks you.
