La Maison Verchant

We love staying at La Maison Verchant. Quiet, out of the city bustle, and large spacious rooms. We stay at this property every time we visit Montpellier. The hot tub connected to our room would be lovely if heated during the cooler months.

Excellent service. Rooms were beautiful. Though the views from the rooms were awful (we had 2 rooms; view on the parking lot for one and on building for the other) It is located in an awful area! You feel you drive through an unsafe place or at least very ugly. So surprising for such a nice hotel. Breakfast was pretty bad (cheap fruit salad from a local supermarket; few options)

The place is undeniably beautiful — the location, the design, the atmosphere — everything looks stunning. A major issue here is the complete lack of service. We arrived at 5 PM and there was no staff on site. No one appeared at the reception until 10 AM the next day. Even getting an extra bottle of water felt like a full-blown quest. If you’re looking for beauty and isolation — this might work. But if you expect any level of service, this place will disappoint.

Tranquil setting, beautiful rooms, great amenities. We had a room with a terrace and it was really lovely. The room is so comfortable, great bathroom and storage space. Easy to feel peaceful and restful. It’s a bit far from downtown and sites but easy to take a taxi or uber. Very close to highway. Breakfast is great and Stephane was so helpful and kind.

the whole property is of the highest standard and therefore very appealing. there should be - under all circumstances - an evening-type bar facility that offers some basic food (i.e. croque messiers; club sandwich; ham & cheese plate and/or similar) as well as some alcoholic drinks, including wine. The place clearly appears 'dead' without any kind of common facility with some life. Also, there is no room service but a bar could compensate for that.

Everything was great except for direction on how to drive there. Direction on how get to the property was not clear. Also, after 5:00pm guests should register at the sister hotel (Domaine de Verchant) which was not easily accessible either. All of this became elementary once we learned how to navigate the two hotels, but it was a bitter experience at first.

Gorgeous grounds, clean architecture, quiet room, staff friendly. The one open restaurant on the property had a nice wine list and food was good. Lovely outside seating area. No one answered the phone even with multiple attempts to get through for instructions to access the property. I knew we had to check in with the hotel but the way we were directed in by our navigation system gave no indication of where the hotel was. DO NOT put the address of Maison Verchant in your mapping system. It takes you to the gated entry of the facility, not the hotel. In my communication the hotel address was buried . It is critical that you use the hotel address to access the property. The road in front of the maison is heavily trafficked and difficult for 2 cars to pass one another. It is not driving for the faint of heart. The beautiful grounds helped calm us down after a very nerve racking attempt to check in. Our room was spacious but the tablet which I can only assume gave instructions for how things worked in the room, when breakfast would be served, how to contact personnel at the hotel, was locked and of no use. We could not call anyone (they won’t answer the phone) or find anyone to easily ask about how to unlock the tablet. The light outside the room was broken and it took a bit to get the key card read. The room itself, while beautiful, was very stuffy. There was no air movement . Thermostat, once we found it , could not be adjusted to a comfortable temperature. No windows opened to help with ventilation. After sacrificing over an hour of our limited stay on the property trying to find it, the mounting series of things not functioning properly created a huge failure of expectations for us. Had we not paid in advance we would have found another place to stay. It was just not the type of experience we anticipate from a luxury hotel. Too many things were not up to speed .

We enjoyed the Nordic Spa and the lovely atmosphere. The staff were excellent and very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stunning hotel with great facilities Nothing

Beautiful accomodation, wish we had arrived earlier and taken advantage of the spa & sauna. Not enough lighting.

Beautiful setting. Good room, clean, with high quality toiletries and large bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff. The main facilities (bar, restaurant and pool) are all in the “domaine du Verchant”. To get there, it is a dangerous walk along the road. Likewise, the drive to the house, on the same road, wasn’t great… people sat drinking beer along the road

Super staff, helpful and pleasant. Nice enough room, very spacious and very clean. Pleasant gardens. Satisfactory breakfast. Good parking close by. My main concern was that the location which was outside of the environs of the main hotel, separated by a road, far too far to go for say a swim, sauna or trek over for dinner. One could not have easily wandered over for a swim in a bathrobe and flip-flops from one's room! I gather it was converted from farm buildings and in my opinion, would have been better used for staff quarters than guests given the distance from the main hotel. Other points. My wife felt that the room was designed more for looks than function and not especially female friendly. (For example the mirror was at eye level meaning she could only see her forehead; overhead showers don't work well for women seeking to avoid their hair getting wet; the full length mirror was in the wardrobe and not on the wall where there was space.) The desk lamp was unsatisfactory for my wife doing work. the bedside tables were too small and only one level. I did not find enough hooks to hang wet towels. Finally, the safe was not screwed to the floor !
