Hotel Neapolis

We had a very nice stay at Hotel Neapolis. The staff were all lovely (special shout-out to Alessandra, Claudio and the other young girl at reception. They were all great). The room was big, clean and comfortable, and relatively quiet considering that the hotel is right in the middle of a lively area full of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was also nice and plentiful. The taxi we took from the train station refused to take us all the way to the hotel (not the hotel's fault, obviously!) but once we were in the right street or area, we found it quite difficult to find the hotel (mobile signal was not the best and there is no visible hotel sign in the streets). Better signage on the corner of Via dei Tribunale would have helped a lot!

The location was very convenient - in the heart of old town Napoli. The breakfast was good. My room was the size of a breadbox. When I asked to move to a bigger room, I was told none were available. The shower was so small that I could barely move around enough to wash myself. The bed was barely bigger than me, and there was no real space in the room to move around comfortably. When I was there, I saw the "double" rooms that were advertised on booking,com, and they were easily 3 - 4 times the size of mine, and the beds were much bigger. My room did not match the picture on booking.com at all or my expectations, and I ended up spending as much time as possible out of the room. I made my reservation at this hotel based on the pictures that were provided on booking.com. Had I seen an accurate picture of the room I ended up in, I would not have stayed there.

The hotel is outdated. But the worst part is the noise. You would hear anything happening in the streets or even in the breakfast room which was a floor up, like it was shouted with a megaphone in your ear. It was very hard to sleep

Location was excellent, near many restaurants, walkable area, nearby sites, 6 minute walk from Dante Metro station Lively area but hotel was quiet. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, and the staff were terrific. I always hope for a larger single room and larger shower stall. But this is an old building, so the trade off was it's great character and location and staff.

Hotel Neapolis checked us in an hour early. Our room was large and clean. The bed and bedding were comfortable. The location is great for walking. They arranged taxi for us in the early morning. For the price its a great value and I recommend it. The only reason I did not give it an excellent rating is because they were not more helpful with tourist questions but they were pleasant and I have feeling that if I spoke Italian they would of gladly helped me. I was with my five year old and had lots of luggage and the desk staff just stood there while I was having difficulty to get out their small elevator. At first I thought he was a guest but then he went behind the desk to check me in. But once behind the desk he was pleasant and checked us in early. So I have mixed feelings. When I later asked another person behind the desk for eating recommendations and help with map they were unable to help. The place is difficult to get to by taxi. But that may be more the fault of the taxi drivers not wanting to deal with the pedestrian traffic. In general I found the taxi drivers in Naples are dishonest and try to rip you off by not turning on the meter and then asking for an exorbitant amount. One taxi dropped us off at wrong address.

Location was great for walking, but challenging (but manageable) for driving. Driving / Parking instructions could have been better.

The location was good, especially if you're looking for an authentic experience. The neighborhood is lively and safe (though we came upon a forensic crime scene 30 minutes after our arrival which was a bit disheartening). The hotel is located in a seedy back courtyard and the elevator is gamble (hits hard upon arriving at the designated floor). Air conditioning must be set on FAN/FAN or you're going to have a very bad night's sleep (as we did until being told how to run it properly). First night we were woken up by a fire alarm and a brief power outage at 4:30 a.m. Hotel staff shrugged it off saying it was nothing (only waking us up in a panic in the middle of the night!). Breakfast was atrocious, not one redeeming quality. After the first morning we skipped it though finding a decent breakfast in Italy is a challenge, even the local pastries from a well-reviewed cafe were simply awful. We ended up buying some fresh fruit from the supermarket.

Location was very good, single room worked well for my purposes and every staff member was very nice. Nothing, for the price everything was good.

It's in the city centre so the location is just excellent and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Analis is an amazing person!

The waiter attending the breakfest was very nice. The hotel is inside of the old city but it is not nice to have garbish beans in the hotel entrance The shower box was incredible small, the hair drier does not dry properly, the place is difficult to get by a medium car. The location in the historical centre of Naples is excellent. There are two metro stations nearby. The members of the staff were friendly and helpful.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Neapolis. The only problem was the elevator being out of order on the very day we arrived (and spanning the weekend, it wasn’t fixed). The staff was very kind, the room clean, and the hotel convenient and functional, located near the subway and at the heart of Naples' lively atmosphere. In another city, we might have complained about the noise from the street, but that’s just Naples, and you have to embrace certain folkloric aspects. We’re not sure if we’ll have the chance to return soon, but if we do, we’ll stay there again. Overall, we can only recommend it to potential future guests. We had bad luck; the elevator was out of order, but it wasn’t the hotel's fault.
