excellent service, facilities, maintenance and historical place where emperor and Einstein stayed! Located at uphill, for senior it is a little hard to walk around
-
Beautifully classic Japanese hotel.

Exceptionally beautiful building oozing Taisho / Edwardian futures, charm, and details, and full of history — many famous guests over the years. For example, Albert Einstein stayed here and they still have the piano he played in a lounge! Worth it for the architecture and interiors alone if that’s your thing. Impeccable full-service staff. Extremely large and comfortable room. Excellent amenities in room including some of the most comfortable pajamas I’ve ever slept in. Free shuttle into Nara town. Walkable / close to main Nara park temples. Beautiful views from our window. Excellent bar. Really nothing we did not like. A few strange or less-excellent points: It did have a strangely musty smell in the lobby, lounges, and hallways, though not in the guest rooms. The hallways past the public areas were strangely cavernous and empty — no art on the walls, etc. No screens on the windows, such that our room had a note that said “Don’t open the windows; your room will fill with insects.” We would have loved to listen to the cicadas and feel the fresh air — just put screens on the windows!

spacious room, great environment. Saw deer in the backyard reasonable price great breakfast great giftshop I did book the room with 3 people on booking.com, but still asked for an extra charge for the 3rd person. I am not sure if it was my mis-understanding or booking.com did not provide information correctly.

Very good location. Historic hotel with period “western style rooms” Hotel staff was a bit snooty.

This is a beautiful, old hotel with a lot of character. Our room was spacious for 3 and still cozy. Having a free shuttle to and from the hotel was a bonus. Nothing

The outside was pretty and that’s about all I liked I’ll start with the fact that there was a dead cockroach stuck to some sticky paper laying on the floor next to our bed (photo attached. I moved it to the balcony the balcony). They don’t respond to messages via bookings. A pot of tea costs 20 US dollars and a 20 dollar glass of wine is less than a quarter filled. It was a nice perk that they have a shuttle - but he took us to the wrong train station when we were very specific. The whole hotel is a train wreck. I would never recommend to anyone. It was the worst place we stayed in Japan and one of the worst I’ve ever stayed at.

Clean and comfortable room. Beautiful view of deer. A few sources of warm and cool lighting. Natural wood shower and bath.

Beautiful building in great location
-
Everything! Great food, lovely location and fantastic room. Takes a long time to get taxi. Rooftop closed. Beer restaurant closes early.
-
The property is located on the edge of Nara Park. The location was so beautiful and relaxing. The property was excellent.

Nara Hotel is always my hotel of choice when business brings me to Nara.

The staff and location were excellent. Shuttle bus that takes to you the 2 main stations on a regular basis. Bicycles available, but didn't get to try them out. Historical references, lots of lounge area space. Tea lounge special with a view on the garden. Regretfully we believe value for money, it didn't seem to add up to others in the same ballpark in terms of amenities. Would expect there to be at minimum wellness and fitness facilities. The western breakfast was sub-par, we didn't try lunch nor dinner.
