This place was absolutely phenomenal! I’ve never been to New Orleans, and I’m so glad we chose this particular location for our stay. They were able to accommodate our early arrival for a very small extra fee. The breakfast was really good and the coffee was outstanding! In all fairness, Breakfast is all about the coffee. Everyone was so accommodating and the property was spotless. i’m going to be 100% forthcoming. I am absolutely terrified of flying bugs. You know exactly what I’m talking about. I did not find a single one of those crunchy critters on this property even though the city was literally buzzing with them lol the pool was pristine. I have very sensitive skin- I swam in this pool every day for five days and was perfectly fine. I really enjoyed having my morning cup of coffee sitting outside by their Parisian style sitting area. The room was beautiful, and I truly appreciated the blending of comfort along with their ability to keep the authenticity of the historical mansion. i’m already planning my next visit to New Orleans and this will 100% be the place where we stay.

The new owners are doing an excellent job improving the property. My partner and I loved our stay and enjoyed the experience.

Emily was an amazing person and the stay was beautiful. She gave an tour of the space. The historical importance and a few good places in the area. She made a trip into an adventure. I would absolutely stay again but only if she's still there. She makes the space incredible. Thank you again Emily. Also the room was one of a kind I'm rebooking again right now.

Had an amazing stay at the Melrose mansion made me and my wife feel at home. The staff were all great people will definitely be staying here again. The location is great, bus stop nearby, not too far from bourbon or Frenchmen.

Far enough away from the noise but close enough. . Thought we were staying in the old house but seemed to be in another and in an out building

Melrose Mansion is a gem and was a highlight of our New Orleans trip. I was hoping to stay somewhere unique (non-chain) that incorporated the New Orleans vibe while still being comfortable and at least 4 stars. The mansion was right on the mark with nicely renovated rooms, clean/cute common areas, a small B&B feel and history. The pool was gorgeous and felt luxe and private. Our room was fantastic, clean, nice bathroom, comfortable mattress, all lovely. But the staff! The staff were welcoming, helpful, fun, and all-around made you feel like you were extra VIP. Special thanks to Emily who had a great personality and was over-the-top with her lists of restaurants and sites, even for my special dietary needs. I will only stay here moving forward. Loved it. 👏

As far as the property itself, I would describe it as more of an Airbnb/guesthouse experience than a traditional hotel. If you’re looking for somewhere to shower, sleep, get dressed and head back out to enjoy New Orleans, it can definitely serve its purpose. If you’re looking for a polished hotel experience where you want to relax in the room and enjoy the amenities, I would probably choose somewhere else. The room did have a noticeable smell, although I understand that can come with older historic properties in New Orleans. Cleanliness could also use some attention. There were a few hairs around the tub and sink, which is something I personally notice immediately. Complimentary breakfast was very basic , think cereal, packaged items and boxed/prepared breakfast foods ,so I wouldn’t book specifically for the breakfast. Staff were very helpful and amazing. Overall, the location was convenient and we made the absolute best of our stay. It gave us somewhere to sleep, shower and head right back out, which worked for this trip. Just come with realistic expectations: this is more historic guesthouse/Airbnb vibes than traditional hotel vibes.

We had a great experience at this Hotel! Emily was such an amazing hostess and gave us amazing list of recommendations. She was extremely accommodating and was a fun and informative conversation. The hotel was beautiful and well maintained considering it is a historical building. We would definitely comeback to stay again in the future.
