Beautiful Lobby. Our bathroom had some black mold and wood damage on the bathroom moulding. If you leave your room to explore the city after 9:30 be sure to tell the front desk you still want your room cleaned or it won’t happen. There is no microwave or coffee machine in the room. The pool hours and pool bar/restaurant have different hours it was a little confusing. As well as how to get to the pool. The pool was quite small but very nice and the pool deck was very clean. Over all the room was nice and the staff was nice and helpful.

Hotel is a little aged but absolutely not unclean. Great location and the staff are amazing

This is an older building in a great location with a fair price for NYC. Rooms are small and a bit run down, no coffee in the rooms. But it is totally acceptable given the location and the price.

The location was perfect for my particular visit. The parking wait. I used taxis or MTA primarily anyway.

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean. Our room could have used some cosmetic upkeep but was clean and everything worked as it should.

It has a great vibe as an issue walk into the hotel. Pascual and Ariel so kind and accommodating at the front desk. Thank you so much. We had a wonderful stay for my granddaughter‘s 18th birthday.

Roof top pool Great Mexican restaurant Small but comfortable room-to be expected in NYC

Clean room, sweet staff, nice rooftop. The only is that I wish they had ice machines on each floor and that the rooftop was open earlier. But it was a wonderful experience! Would come again! Free bottles of water

Although we had issues with our air conditioner, the floor tiles were loose, not crazy about the wallpaper. But in all it was good enough to enjoy new york.

Exceptional

The hotel was extremely dated and extremely DIRTY. I’ve stayed at motels nicer than this. It was dirty. There was food on my carpet floor. The curtains were stained. The bed was stiff.

Terrible look somewhere else.

A disappointing stay at the empire. Whilst the location is great, not much else lives up to the images online. Our room was tired with cracked paint in all areas and a strong smell of fish. Our blind was broken and although we advised front desk of this on day 1, no one repaired it, so we had no natural light in the room for our entire stay. The rooftop pool bears no relation to the pictures on the website and is little more than a large bath. Chambermaids and door staff were friendly, but reception staff were cold, unhelpful and quite rude. Poor value all round

We figured it was an easy fix, so the next morning, before leaving for the day, we asked the front desk to have some brought up. Eight hours later, we came back and there was still no soap. We called the front desk and were told it would be about ten minutes. After calling three more times and still receiving nothing, we finally gave up and left for our concert without being able to shower. On our way out, we mentioned it again in person and were assured that soap would be waiting in the room when we returned. It wasn’t. After the concert, we called the front desk yet again. This time we were told that the hotel had actually run out of the liquid soap normally stocked in the rooms, but that they had bar soap available. I asked if I should just come downstairs and get it myself. I was told a request had to be submitted and approved before they could distribute the soap to us. Eventually, after an exhausting number of calls over something as basic as soap, we received two tiny bars. The sink and shower did not even have a proper place to put bar soap because the room is clearly designed to use liquid soap dispensers. We were also given only two towels for our entire stay, and they were never replenished. Then came the icing on the cake. On our final night, we saw five bedbugs crawling on the towels.

Great area to stay. Cute room. Very tiny, but cozy.
