This was my second time staying here and it was just as good the second time. Perfect location in Meatpacking, rooms are large by NYC standards, and the staff is friendly. Will continue to come back!

Excellent location, nice size room and fast check in. Only difficulty was getting attention of waitress at breakfast, as she was busy looking at her phone and chatting with woman preparing coffee. Had to go to her to get coffee refill and wave at her to order!

Incredible boutique hotel with rooftop pool, big rooms, comfortable beds and an amazing gym

We loved the location and the entry staff as well as the staff at the counter. Everyone was very helpful. We loved that we were able to get a room with two beds. 1) the whole café staff needs better training (one morning they kept dropping glasses and cutlery: it was disturbing) 2) the café staff needs to understand when to serve coffee 3) the food was not up to the standard at the hotel 4) the bathrooms were small and did not have enough counter space 5) the toilet seat was hard wood, old and it did not meet the standard of the rest of the room. We are disappointed that the café service was so bad as we’d love to keep coming back to this location for all our NYC travel. 6) the rooftop sofas in the lounge are atrocious: you keep sliding off them. 7) paying $250 for a little sofa by the pool is disrespectful to your hotel guests. That actually made me mad.

We had a really great stay, everyone was wonderful. We were there to celebrate our son’s birthday. He wanted to stay in a fancy hotel and have breakfast in bed. The staff especially Kori at the front desk went above and beyond to make this happen and make him feel special. The pool was great. Only downside is no coffee from the server at the pool and the roof top bar was closed to a private party our first night and just closed the second night. We will stay again on next trip to the city. Thanks!!

My booking was supposed to come with two free drinks, but we were not given the vouchers at check in. I went to the rooftop after check in and ordered a cold appetizer from the limited menu, and a glass of water. After 30 minutes, still no food, and I asked whether or not the order was on its way. Was told they were bringing it up from the kitchen (in the basement) and it would be just a few minutes. 15 more minutes went by and I had to leave for a meeting. No apology from the staff as they presented me a bill for the water, 10 bucks. Ridiculous. Had to grab a snack from a street vendor on my way to the meeting. There was a text string happening from before check in, and beyond check out, but when I commented about this waste of my time, I got no response - and still have not heard a thing. The hotel staff is friendly but very young and seems to have had minimal training in true hospitality - and there was no sign of management on hand to smooth out the occasional rough edges.

Restaurant and bar staff were wonderful .

Fantastic location and plenty going for it, but overall I would rate the experience as more 4-star than 5-star. For a hotel positioning itself at the luxury end of the market, there are a few small details that make a noticeable difference. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable, although some maintenance details need attention. The light bulb around the bathroom mirror in my room was out, and the digital “Make Up My Room” sign didn’t seem to work. The lifts also looked a little tired. More importantly, there were no coffee-making facilities or complimentary bottled water in the room — something I would consider a basic expectation at this level of hotel. On the positive side, check-in and check-out were excellent, with a genuinely friendly and welcoming team. The pool is a real highlight, particularly the views over New York, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time there. Unfortunately, the concierge experience was a disappointment. I asked if he could provide a pair of scissors to cut off my wristband from the pool. Rather than assisting, he simply pointed towards reception and said, “They have them,” leaving me to stand in the queue while guests were checking in and out. Given that reception was immediately beside him, it would have taken just a moment to help. Thankfully, a lovely member of the team noticed what was happening and stepped in to assist. And perhaps that sums it up!

Our stay at the Gansevoort was extremely disappointing due to multiple issues. Most importantly, we prepaid for a room with two beds 1.5 months in advance, told the hotel at 10 AM we were there, understandably they asked us to come back at 3:00 to check in and when we did they told us they no longer had rooms with two beds. Although other rooms were available, the front desk was unwilling to offer a solution, including two available rooms that would have provided the two beds we needed. Instead, the staff’s attitude was condescending and unhelpful. We were given one bed and a pull-out sofa, which was extremely uncomfortable. I am still experiencing significant back pain from sleeping on it. I complained the next morning and the manager comped the suite, which I appreciated, but there were additional issues throughout the stay that made the weekend anything but relaxing or pleasant. Once home I had to spend two hours on the phone with Expedia while they worked with the hotel to process the refund. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend was ruined, and I am left with back pain that I am still dealing with.

As I travel regularly, I would list the Gansevoort with some of my most favorite hotels. We will stay again and the staff is stellar.

Nice hotel. Good location, clean room, pleasant staff.

Location, rooftop pool, interior design. Charging $200 for 2 hours to use a lounger by the pool is ridiculous and meant that no one used them whilst I was there. One bad experience in the cafe where they were unable to bring any bread with the soup I ordered. Toast arrived after I had finished.
