E-Z 8 Motel Newark

I stayed 7 nights here recently . Time just flew by. Stayed in a king bedroom . Picked this place because it was affordable for. A week long stay and bobus, pets can stay free. Had a small toy poodle dog and it was nice that the property has few dog poop stations. Overall, happy. WiFi needs to be purchased separately. Laundry is available onsite for individual purchase. Also, need to request for change of linen by asking front desk. Staff was helpful

The accommodation was fully booked. Booking.com took the payment without realising that this accommodation EZ 8 Motel Newark had over booked. Thankfully, my friend had given me a ride to Newark, otherwise it would have cost me more by Uber or Lyft; As well as having to look for a different available accommodation late evening. Once EZ 8 Motel Newark was booked out - they should inform relevant websites which customers do booking through. Its another hassle, to connect booking.com to follow up on reimbursement. Poor service overall.

The main issue was the cleanliness. The room itself was not clean. There were flooring strips missing or pulled up and there were areas which were pretty dirty. I also saw a couple of small cockroaches. ( I took pictures ). Another inconvenience was that there was absolutely no space, rod or hooks to hang up clothing. There was a refrigerator which seems like a good thing, however seeing that it was dirty and not maintained, it was not usable to store any food. Lack of services or amenities is not an issue but cleanliness is a major concern.

They feature a swimming pool in their photos in fact, even when you book the room, you receive messages regarding the pool's hours and other details yet when we were actually there, they wouldn't let us use it. The staff member I asked about using the pool was even a bit aggressive in their response. The bathroom was in terrible condition: the trash can didn't have a liner, the floor was dirty, and so on. And the room doesn't have a microwave.
