Homewood Suites by Hilton Newark-Wilmington South Area

Rooms were big but outdated & dirty! Rug was stained in hallway & in rooms. Living room furniture was so old & stained I refused to let my family sit on it. Wet spot on the floor near the master bed - it appears the ceiling had been patched from a leak but not too well. Rain from earlier in the day had probably caused the wet spot. Pillow smelled like they had tried to air out the smell of someone who had smoked marijuana in the room. I was definitely not satisfied with my stay & will not be returning to this hotel with so many other options nearby.

Asked to change rooms but was told there were none. I find that hard to believe. Think lady at front don't want to be bothered changing rooms at 10pm on a Sat night. Also a recycling garbage pile in door across from us. We were told "that wasn't our business." Finally no to go cups for coffee or any drinks @ breakfast.

Was dusty. Not an updated facility. Not clean enough. Slow draining tubs and sinks. Rust spots everywhere. Very discouraging

I was there for 1 night. When I arrived my room door was not secure which concerned me a little as I was traveling alone this time. The room it was not as clean as I would have liked. There was hair in the sink but the bed was clean and comfy. The creamers in the room had curdled which was a surprise. The breakfast next day was good and much appreciated. The staff was very helpful.

I expected a few more options at breakfast. We did eat a little later (9:00am) but several options had been picked over.

A few things. The staff was great. Location was great. BUT the hotel is clearly outdated. My least favorite is there’s a scent in the hotel as well as the room …. Not sure how to explain it but it’s a bit funky. The hallways feel like there’s hot air blowing.

Check in was easy front desk staff was very nice. Walked in to room floor sticky and not clean beds had visible stains on them and room smelled musty. Went to use one of the toilets and it refused to flush and backed up had to shut the water from the wall off called front desk they stated maintenance would be up. No one came up so my husband went down to front desk they stated they would be up in a minute. I had door open and sitting by the front door and still no one came to fix the toilet. My husband spoke to front desk and maintenance claimed they knocked but no one answered at this point it was after 10pm with two small children we opted to wait until morning and no one showed up. Had to use bathroom in the lobby at breakfast staff at breakfast very nice and helpful food great check out was ok morning front desk wasn’t as pleasant as the night time. Won’t stay again.

The kitchen had a large refrigerator, two burner stove top microwave, and garbage disposal. The upholstered furniture needs cleaning. The tub needs hand rails to get in and out. The breakfast had an excellent variety to choose from.

Breakfast had a nice variety of choices.Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Cleanliness was good but there were stains and burns in the carpet. Some of the furniture had rips and stains on the upholstry.

The suite was very comfortable, and the breakfast was very good!

Location near University of Delaware’s sports facilities was great! Room size for a family of 5 was more than enough. Staff were friendly and helpful. Also, the breakfast was a good spread. The hotel needs a refresh. Wallpaper was peeling, extra bedding was pilled. Carpets were stained.
