Good location to Nungwi activities Food wasn’t that good , Not fresh , No variety at all and no good portions Not good value versus price ..

Location Our stay at Smiles Beach Hotel in Nungwi was absolutely terrible. The room was infested with bedbugs, the internet barely worked, and worst of all, money was stolen from our safe box. We immediately rrported to management filed a police report, and even the Chief of Police asked the hotel to resolve the matter with us. Despite that, management flatly refused to settle or take any responsibility. Their lack of professionalism and empathy was shocking. What should have been a peaceful vacation turned into a stressful and disappointing ordeal. The location may look appealing, but the hotel’s poor hygiene, unreliable Wi-Fi, and lack of security make it a place I would never recommend. Stay away from this property if you value your safety and peace of mind.

Location was the only good thing in this hotel Everything. Rooms are very outdated. There is an issue with the rooms everyday. Bathrooms leak. Ac breaks . Internet not stable. 90% of the staff are not friendly and barely smile. Service is horrible. Pool isn't clean. Breakfast is below average and staff doesn't replenish anything unless you ask them. Dinner is a waste of money as they limit you between 2 options and they are both bad and quantities are very small. This hotel is a complete waste of money.

The hotel (5 houses) is right on the beach, all rooms face the sea and have a beautiful view. Sunsets here are amazing. In front of the houses there is a pool and a private section with sunbeds and nice big sun shade umbrellas, with a fence around, so the beach boys could not go all the way to you, but sometimes they were still annoying. Since there are only a few rooms, it was pretty quiet and peaceful. We usually had the whole pool and beach to ourselves (perks of travelling in shoulder season - June). The breakfast was good, you could take anything from the buffet and eggs were made on request. The dinner was also good, you were able to choose from 2 starters, 3 main dishes and 2 desserts every evening and they changed the menu every time. Usually it was one dish with seafood, one with meat and one vegetarian. They do not serve alcohol, but the soft drinks at the dinner were free. They make your mosquito net and spray your room every evening. The bedroom and bathroom were big, we were staying in the superior room. The low tide here is less apparent in comparison to Jambiani, but it think it's good to experience it both. A general thing to keep in mind - the sun sets around 6:30pm all year round on Zanzibar, so once it is dark, you can only chill in the hotel, since it is not advised to walk in the dark. The hotel sadly had no theme evenings or entertainment, so it's up to you, how you spend your evenings. But therefore it is still perfect, if you want to truly relax.

Location on the beach Food standard was poor - eg moldy cheese, repetitive dishes eg stir fry veg starter and main courses at same meal Always short on food, coffee, crockery, serviettes etc Curtain rail was not secured so kept falling when curtains were drawn Safe did not work during stay Shower head broken, replaced and broke again

The staff is completely very friendly, the rooms are clean, the restaurant is on the beach. In the evening, the tables on the sand are a wonderful atmosphere for dinner. The food is delicious and plentiful. One well-intentioned suggestion, the rooms and bathroom should be refreshed a bit

The resort is situated in the heart of nungwi beach . The warm pool & relax stations are just perfect. As it’s private the beach boys can’t trouble you . Food was good both breakfast & dinner . Variety offered for both . The rooms & bathrooms could do with an upgrade . Found the beds abit small . Bit overall definitely a good stay . Would recommend.

The property itself is very nice and clean. My stay at Smiles Hotel was extremely disappointing. First, the food was absolutely terrible. During one breakfast, there wasn’t even enough food available for all the guests. The manager attempted to make up for it by offering two complimentary lunches, but this turned out to be another frustrating experience. While other guests were enjoying a variety of dishes, we were told some options weren’t available to us. To make matters worse, my partner ended up with a stomach bug after staying here, which raises serious concerns about the hygiene and food safety at this hotel. Additionally, I found the manager’s behavior to be highly questionable—bordering on dishonest. Their promises and compensations felt more like a way to brush off. To add to this, throughout the stay he made us feel uncomfortable and questioning about our safety. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The combination of poor food quality, questionable management, and health concerns made this stay far from pleasant.

Excellent food, friendly staff, perfect location No lift for upstairs rooms

Sometimes early morning there's no water in the room. During the low tide the beach might be full of seaweed.

This hotel has an amazing accommodation, pool and beach setting having direct access to the quiet side of Nungwi Beach. If you are looking for a tranquil and relaxing setting I highly recommend this beach front hotel. ❤️ The staff are very friendly and accommodating and truly go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. I must say the hotel has fulfilled my expectation in every way especially allowing my family to have a late checkout as our flight was late in the evening. It's hard to think of any negatives during our stay. ❤️

    Very good

The room was mostly clean and spacious, and the sun beds area was nice and quiet. This hotel is 5 minutes walk away from the most populated/touristic beach. Consequently, there is slightly less inconvenience from the beach boys(masai, sellers). The dinner was abounding, with decent quality. Do NOT go here if you need to WORK. The WiFi is very unstable and often non existent. Not sure why on booking is rated high. You can send more than a message occasionally. Not suitable for any call, meeting or even sending emails. The restaurant stuff is sometimes trying to trick you when you order things outside the included things (conversion from local currency to dollar or stating when the bill comes that some items are not included)
