Location is great the staff are amazing people keep it up

the staff are friendly, especially, the receptionists (Irene and a young guy), the waitresses (Magret, Witness, I don't remember other names). I feel home for two nights. The breakfast is so so.

The room and their restaurant it’s right at the beach, the location is absolutely amazing and the food they serve is really good

The hotel main area which was 10 steps away from the rooms was right on the beach. You would get a sunbed and towels and with a security guard, it'd somewhat save you from frequent visits by the beach boys. The food area on the first floor was a very nice spot, it had an amazing view of the beach, especially at the breakfast when there was no crowd. The staff was super nice, especially the young guy at the reception. We liked the breakfast options and were also given packed food when we had to go for our excursion, and also when we had to leave early for our flight. There is a resident dog and a few cats who love to be petted. Lastly, the rooms were comfortable and the hot water was always available. If you get the rooms at the front, the noise from the road and the generator could be too much. The management was nice enough to change our rooms when we requested. But the second room had a weird smell, which seems to be in quite a lot of places in Zanzibar, still can't figure out what it was. But when the room was serviced again the next day, it got better.

Not much, unfortunately. I left after just two nights out of the seven I had booked because the place didn’t meet my expectations. The lack of privacy, misleading “beachfront” description, and overall atmosphere made me decide to move to another hotel that offered a much better experience at a similar price. The rooms are basic and arranged in a horseshoe shape around a shared garden, which offers little privacy since all rooms face each other. The only windows opens onto this common area and you can't really see outside, you are locked into a room. Between the garden and the reception/restaurant runs a road (that are beachfront), so it’s inaccurate to describe the rooms as beachfront as they are on the other side of the road, contrary to the photos and “beachfront” label on Booking. I left after two nights, giving up the remaining five, as better options are easily available in Zanzibar at comparable prices. I requested a refund for the unused nights, but it was denied. The next place I stayed was cheaper and truly beachfront, offering a much better experience..

Staff was incredible, especially the hotel manager Liza. She was just amazing and so helpful from coordinating excursions to helping me when I got sick to my stomach. The property is beautiful and the views of the ocean from the restaurant were incredible. The room had a humidity/damp smell. The sink water also did not smell great. I am going to assume these things are normal for the climate the fact water has to be delivered to hotels in the area due to infrastructure. Other than that, everything was great. One more thing, this is close to beach clubs so you will hear music blasting constantly. After 10pm it does quiet down.

the breakfast at this hotel was a major disappointment. The options were limited

I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at a hotel Zava Nungwi, Zanzibar, and I can honestly say—it was one of the best experiences. The beach was just steps away, with soft white sand and the kind of turquoise water you usually only see in travel magazines (yes is true, you have to clean it daily). I remember standing there, barefoot and watch a wonderful sunset. The staff made me feel like family. Irene, Grace, Witness you are special.. thanks for everything...you and all other staff maid our days. Every greeting felt genuine, and they remembered my name, my favorite drink, and even asked how my day was going. My room was ok, maybe some renovations on bathrooms must be done in future. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotless. I loved waking up to the sound of the ocean and sipping coffee on the balcony... The food was another highlight. I still dream about the fresh mango juice, fruit at breakfast. Every meal was a celebration of local flavors, and I appreciated how the chefs took pride in their creations. What truly made this trip unforgettable were the little moments: chatting with locals, watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand, and feeling completely at peace. Thanks Grace and Irene for your help with passion fruit and vanilla sticks.. I will never forget... I left with a full heart and maybe one day I’ll return. If you’re looking for a place to reconnect with nature, with yourself, or with someone special—this is it. Zava Nungwi stole a piece of my heart, once again... Thanks Grace, Irene, Witness and all others... Take care... Chapeau Zava Nungwi!! Nothing special, as I mentioned the bathroom must be a little bit renovated...

I planned a three-night getaway at Zava Nungwi for my parents to celebrate my mum’s 60th birthday, and the experience exceeded all expectations. I was truly impressed and deeply moved by Liza’s exceptional kindness, meticulous attention to detail, and thoughtful suggestions that made the trip unforgettable — from the surprise room welcome to the beachfront dinner and the beautiful birthday cake. I’ve traveled extensively, but I’ve rarely encountered this level of outstanding customer service. I wholeheartedly recommend Zava Nungwi to anyone visiting Tanzania and Zanzibar.

It’s a beach front hotel! The location is perfect and it was always clean. There were outage issues and sometimes the water pressure in the shower wasn’t strong.

Value for money, good location Just the food was not the best
-
Satff, breakfast and location
-
Beach front great service Towels
-
The adjacent restaurant serves good food No clean water to shower (salty water only), no cleaning service (they come and adjust mosquito nets without cleaning the room), no pool. Instead of washing the floors they spray and spread the dirt. Facilities are old and aren’t kept tidy. Hair and fake lashes left after previous tenants

Fantastic location on the beach, with restaurant and bar facing sunsets, excellent food, wifi, large rooms with terrace and small garden with hammoc, and super nice staff

Very nice location, in front of beach. Shower is not good

Amazing location! Right on the beach with a very helpful staff. Felt like I was at home and enjoyed the beach view and sunset. Witness and Grace were like my sisters away from home & made sure I was well taken care off. Even helped me plan a day trip to Nakupenda. Asante sana!
