I like this hotel, and have stayed there many times over the years. It is a great location and I enjoy the beautiful gardens, the pleasant rooms, the friendly staff. I had pleasant memories of the breakfast in the garden area at the back of the property, but this time when I arrived for breakfast there weren't even chairs set out and the breakfast offerings were limited. It seemed that I was the only guest and they were doing some construction in the area in back of restaurant zone, so perhaps this affected this situation. The breakfast seemed expensive for what it was. I also remember a pleasant reading/library room on previous visits that I didn't see on this occasion; I'm not sure if it is still there.

The common areas of the property are lovely (lots of pottery and beautiful plants) and the rooms are spacious. The front desk staff when we checked in were initially friendly. I NEVER like to criticize a local business and I wouldn’t do so with this one had the property manager been less defensive when we registered a complaint. The rooms are very basic (which is fine given the price point) but we found the beds to be incredibly uncomfortable. Again, that’s to be expected at the price point. However, in the morning, we discovered that the hotel is in the flight path and we were awakened around 6 AM to planes flying directly overhead. I immediately reached out to Booking.com as we had booked a three night stay. I was told to contact the hotel directly, which I did. When I chatted with the property manager, she got immediately defensive and was, to be honest, quite unfriendly. I explained that I had no desire to be a ‘complainer’ (I have stayed many hotels over the years and have never registered a complaint) but that this was a special occasion trip and I wanted our hotel to be both comfortable and restful (which this one was not). I asked that I be refunded the additional two nights and the property manager flatly refused, saying it was ‘impossible’. She offered other rooms so I asked her if the mattresses were the same on those rooms and whether they were in the flight path, which they were. I thanked her and checked out. The hotel was kind enough to hold our luggage until we returned later that afternoon, which I appreciated. I, again, would not write a poor review had it not been for the property manager’s reaction. I also was frustrated with Booking.com personnel who were, quite honestly, unhelpful. I have booked through this website hundreds of times and the only help I got was the assurance they would ask the property to refund our remaining two-night stay and that they would let me know the hotel’s response within 48 hours. As far as I’m aware, Booking.com did not advocate on my behalf and the 48 hour response period was ludicrous given that I was already at the property and needed to resolve the issue immediately.

One of the most beautiful courtyards that we saw in Oaxaca City!
-
Gorgeous garden setting. Great location. Accomaodating staff..
-
excellent breakfast; wonderful staff and owners; quiet stay in city center rooms a bit dark on 1st floor
-
Excellent breakfast

Liked having a water cooler at reception to refill water bottle. Vet helpful and friendly staff My room was large and had AC No small fridge in any of the 6 rooms we rented. No ice available.

I didn’t like the breakfast except for the fruit plate. Coffee to expensive for the tiny cup it was served in and was not offered refills. Coffee in the lobby for 40 pesos was a better option. Small refrigerators in rooms. A ice machine on premises. I expected the courtyard to be bigger and have comfortable chairs where we could meet for a get together.

absolutely beautiful, serene property with flower-filled courtyards nothing

The surrounding gardens were lush and beautiful in all areas. The attractive decor—pottery, furnishings, artwork, tile work, murals, everything was special. The hospitality and staff were exceptional, helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. My family loved staying here. I can’t think of anything we didn’t like. We had no issues.

The manager, Carmen, and her staff are the best asset to this lovely hotel. They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The hotel is a 10 minute walk or less from most central sites.

beautiful gardens, Quiet location My room was tucked back in the corner with no real windows

It was a great place lovely garden and great location Beautiful garden and sittings area. Good breakfast restaurant!!

We loved all aspects of our stay. The concierges were outstanding in every way - getting us taxis, arranging for a visit with a fabulous weaver, beautiful gardens, etc...
-
Almost everything. The only drawback is that while it's in an excellent location, it's on a street that is often clogged with diesel exhaust spewing buses.

A beautiful tranquil place in a good location

There was nothing to not like.

Charming older property with murals and a jungle of plants -many in the fabulous pots of Dolores Parras. Colorful, rooms are individually decoated. Quieter than one would think! Our bed was sleepable for an older bed. The pillows were flat out uncomfortable. Lighting could be better inside. The pocket patio for our little courtyard of rooms let us sit outside in locally made chairs. The staff were patient, kind and helpful! Cafe was adequate for breakfast innut within doors are better places on the same street. I recommend getting out and eating everywhere you can!! Diet before Oaxaca if you need to! We would go back to Hotel Las Golondrinas. Breakfast could have been lots better. Get new beds and pillows. Even if it is one room every two months.
