Magnolia Inn and Suites Olive Branch

Told by another guest card keys didn't work very well. Took three tries. Original room was still occupied, tv on, beds unmade and a barking dog was in the bathroom. Front desk questioned if I had gone to the wrong floor. New room took several card key tries. Nice room. Clean. A mild odor - maybe a pesticide treatment. Direct TV didn't work but repair man came in about an hour. Wi-Fi worked initially but was spotty until it quit. Bug (alive) in bathroom. Good things: AC worked well and not too noisy; bed very comfortable; pillows were great. Staff were English as second language, which is fine, but seemed to have to translate to get things done. Location is good. Price is fair.

Good location- near lots of restaurants and businesses. I was a solo traveler who booked this hotel after reading all of the recent reviews (about cleanliness) which were very positive. As soon as I arrived to my room, I was immediately disappointed. The room had a musty smell- even with air freshener that I purchased, it didn't help the smell. I booked a double queen bed, and after pulling back the sheets of one of the beds I discovered stains on the sheets, so I used the other bed which had a pen mark stain on those sheets. The bed also creaked any time I moved. In the bathroom, there were splatter marks of something on the door and wall. The lighting in the room and bathroom was also terrible. It was so dark and dreary in the room. When I went back downstairs to get something from my car, I was told the elevator had stopped working and needed to take the stairs. The hotel just didn't reach my expectations, especially after reading so many positive reviews. I wish I would've followed my first mind and just paid a few dollars more for another hotel in the area.

The accommodations were very good, and I enjoyed my stay. However, I would have appreciated more breakfast options, especially a meat substitute. The breakfast only included cereal, juice, waffles, and coffee. Adding a protein option would make the breakfast much more satisfying.

Wifi, unusable. No devices could play youtube or anything on it. I had to use my cell data to do or watch anything. The tvs needed 2 remotes one for volume and the other to change the channel, and apparently the staff didnt know where the volume one was. So we were watching silent tv with subtitles. Staff was also rude. On our check out day from this hell some dude was banging on our door rushing us screaming his housekeeper was ready. mind u this was an hour and some change before check out time. i would skip this one.

The young lady at the front desk was so very helpful and her hospitality was amazing.
