Air Osaka Hostel

It's far enough from the city center to be more relaxing and close enough for it not to take very long if you want to go there. The owner is very kind and has an overall calming energy to him. The place is welcoming, homely, relaxing and definitely has its own personality. All the staff here are fantastic, super helpful and are the last pieces that create a whole. I really like the common spaces, the Kotatsu is a great addition here.

This is an awesome hostel with great staff and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended to anyone traveling in Osaka looking for affordable and excellent lodging with friends or solo traveling. Very clean but comfortable hostel.

Not a bad hostel for the price. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there was a good social vibe there. The dorms were small but each bunk had a lockable storage area, which was nice. When I got there I accidentally fell asleep for two hours, so the beds were pretty comfortable haha. There’s interesting “words of wisdom” written on the walls all over the hostel so you can be entertained as you’re sitting on the toilet. The building’s a bit old, but that didn’t really bother me. Low doorways so watch your head! It’s a bit far from central Osaka but the train station is a 3 min walk from the hostel so still convenient.

I adored how cozy the building felt. The art on the walls, all the notes and pictures from previous visitors were beautiful. I genuinely found myself finding something new on the walls every day during our stay. I liked the community areas, always felt nice to meet news folks and chat over meals. All in all I liked homey cozy the building was. That being said. This was definitely a case of the property, and rooms didn't meet up to the pictures online. I've stayed in many hostels and hotels in japan this year, so yes, I know they're small. But this place brought new meaning to that. Everything in this place is tiny, from the hallways to stairs, bathrooms, showers, kitchen, and rooms. Not mention unstable! The floors on the first floor are so tore up, especially in the kitchen, that I tripped several times. Honestly, I can deal with how tiny and tore up everything is, but I draw the line at the state of our room. I want to preface this by saying I paid roughly 370 usd for 5 nights in Osaka for two people. It was very cheap and reasonable, so I understand!!! That!! Im not!!! Staying in a 5 start hotel here!!! But I'm still disappointed that the room is not what I thought I booked through the pictures.. In the photos for the room with twin floor beds it showed a clean room with a cute lampshade over the main room light. Nothing crazy, minimal but clean. We arrived to not only a spider on the wall, not only scuffs/dirt/damage to the walls BUT a bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling. I want to end this with a few nitpicks. Just kind of a beware, the road outside this place is extremely loud! But the staff let's you know in advance and even provides ear plugs at the front desk which is nice! Still even with them, the place is very loud. Lastly, I had personally had a pleasant experience with all the staff members. But my brother cant say the same. One of the staff members seemed to have something against my brother (or maybe she was really shy?) She gave him a lot of annoyed side glances and wouldn't really acknowledge or greet him. Not to say my brother was always trying to start up conversations, just friendly greetings. My brother isn't very talkative, but he had good interactions with everyone else!

Overall nothing

Location is good, near the station. Bed was comfortable, and the facilities provided were adequate (Fridge, comic books, and guitars). For the price, it's good enough, not too fancy, not too shabby. The access to and from downtown (Namba, Dotonbori, etc) is perfect, not too far (taking subway around 10 -15 minutes only) The overall space was a little cramped, so for people with plus-size might not find it comfortable.

The workers of the hostel were extremely welcoming and lovely, the common rooms were very creative and artsy which was relaxing at the end of a big day. Pictures are completely different to actual accomodation, a lot has changed / aged within the building, floorboards of kitchen were sticking to my feet and lifting up which seems like a safety issue. Location is also quite far away from the main city of Osaka.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I cannot stress enough just how welcoming and warm they are. They were the highlight of the stay hands down. It's very clean despite the heavy traffic in the public spaces. It's in a decent area too. A short walk from the train station and surrounded by smaller restaurants and bars. A good place to stay if you are an incredibly social person or your plans are to be out all day. The room was a bit more spartan than anticipated, consisting of a bed, a desk and an wooden crate as a bedside table. There weren't many outlets in the room so you have to prioritize what you charge. The biggest knock I would give the place is the room doors. They don't feel the most secure in terms of appearance and a lot of light and sound from the hall comes through. Not a place to stay if you are an introvert as most of the area is public space in regards to the restrooms, kitchen etc

Had all basic necessities, well equipped kitchen and variety of places to sit in the lounge area. Lots of cool stickers and writing on the walls. Everyone seemed pretty friendly. Bathrooms were a bit dirty. Also a bit of walking required to find the hostel. Location could be better.

Great old architecture style to have Japanese atmosphere accommodation. Along the main street so that sometimes noisy car or motorcycle passing by may affect sleeping quality, but ear plug can fix this.

The staff was warm and welcoming. The common area was open, friendly and decorated in a fun, artistic way. Our room had built-in bunk beds, painted dark blue with curtains, this was very nice in that it provided some privacy. We are artists so we enjoyed all the artwork by previous visitors. ? Maybe provide a shoe rack or organization at the front door? My only (small) complaint might be that it was hard to get in because of all the shoes scattered in the entrance.

We came for the artsy area and loved it all. The area was just as imagined, a former industrial area that artsy people have transformed into a warm place where everyone feels welcome. And this is utmost true of Air Osaka Hostel with its unique vibe. Writing, painting on the walls is welcome! How many hostels have that? The rest I'll leave you to discover by your own. ;) The owner Tomo and the whole staff is really nice and welcoming. Ask any question and they'll help you if they can. We had the japanese room near tge toilet. Really quiet. Not disturbing at all. I recommend Café Nams for a great cup of coffee. And check out the little park nearby. Tge cherry trees were blooming as we were there. There's also a kids playground. We were on a low budget and ate several meals in the park (bought at Lawson down the streat.) In case you haven't been to Japan before and donn't know: You can choose from a wide range of full meals at Japanese convinient stores and for a really affordable price. Nada! Only complaint is we couldn't stay longer.

I loved how sociable the hostel was and how homely it felt. It was a great location a short train journey away from Namba. The area surrounding the hostel was quiet with lots of cafes, places to eat and a big supermarket nearby. You could enjoy the peace as quiet or take a short train ride into Namba if wanting a more sociable atmosphere. The decor itself was amazing. Felt very quirky! Overall this was the best hostel I stayed at during my trip to Japan. It exceeded my expectations! I wish I could have stayed longer and would definitely recommend to others and stay again. The bedrooms were a little too cold in the night which led to me having a really bad cold for several days. Nevertheless the communal spaces were very warm. That being said, I loved everything else about Air Osaka so only have positive things to say.

Air Osaka was amazing, such a great vibe the owner is awesome and the staff and people staying there were amazing, will definitely come back, a real highlight from my holiday 10/10
