Mad Cat Hostel Osaka & Bar

Wonderful hostel. 2nd time staying here, and definitely will have a 3rd time.??

I think this is my third time staying at Mad Cat! It's my favorite place to stay when in Osaka! The Crazy Cat Boss Lady (I think that is her official title) Rieko is always friendly and welcoming to everyone! And DJ Yoshi is smooth and cool! All the other staff are sweet and gentle too :) And don't forget about the cats, Kogo and Maru... Definitely the stars of the show! Just stay here...no worries... and enjoy :)

Extremely clean, super comfortable beds and rooms, amazing cats. The staff were very kind and the hostel provides many helpful suggestions for eating and sightseeing.

Maru and Kogo were amazing hosts. The staff were so friendly and we enjoyed spending the evenings at the bar! If you go, definitely try the ramen place on the corner!

I checked in late because I missed the train, but Rieko was patient and waited for me. They showed me around the hostel and to my room. Then Rieko and I went out to meet everyone in the hostel for a fun night of Karaoke. By the end of the night, it felt like I had been friends with everyone for years. It felt like I was back in college hanging out with my friends at our house. I had some of the most fun while in Japan. The front door is locked by a code and leads into the bar, which has a beach vibe. The bar then goes to the family room, separated by another door. The family room is comfortable and fun, especially with the adorable cats there who are so sweet and friendly. There are many bathrooms and showers. Despite there being a full hostel, waiting was never an issue for me. I had a private room for the first night and a room in the dorm for the second. I have never felt safer leaving my stuff out in the open than I have in this hostel. Even if you don't feel the same, every bed has a fairly large wooden locker (estimated 1'x4'x2') at the foot to put your valuables. You do need your own lock for it though. Each bed had an outlet, light, and curtain making it comfortable. The first night we were out until 4 am, then the second night everyone stayed in and had drinks by the bar. This hostel made me debate on quitting my job, moving to Japan, and working here. Whenever I go back to Osaka, I will be staying here every single time. Not. a. thing.

The staff are super friendly, the cats are adorable, the neighborhood makes you feel at home. I fell in love with Osaka staying here, and I refuse to stay anywhere else whenever I return to Osaka. Bonus points for the Familymart absurdly close to the place. I wish I had the chance to meet the owner, she seems so friendly D:

We had a private room which was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed talking to the staff (gracias, Pedro por todo!) It’s close to restaurants and public transit. We were lucky because the day we stayed was just before a national holiday. We had fun meeting some local regulars and other guests at the little bar attached to the hostel. Would recommend. I wish I had asked about buying one of the posters I saw from a previous event. Can you send me one to Canada?

The space of the room was a bit small so you'll have to find the right time to pack your things to not bother your roommates. But it was manageable and not too much trouble.

Comfortable beds in women’s dorm. Good location for traveling around Osaka. Cats! No lock on women’s dorm door.

The people were amazing, the owner. She’s also awesome as well. The workers are very kind, and the overall experience was just top tier.

The staff are wonderful and the location is fair good.

Much like the other reviews here, this place has soul! And cats! Very lovely hostel. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Really special culture developed here and the people who ran the place are angels. Loved it! No complaints!

Everything Nothing

Super clean and lots of space in the common areas. We booked the private room and it was very spacious and beautiful!

Happy to finally book this place! The cats were adorable and very friendly! There was also sashimi available to purchase at the bar. Worth it!
